when things don’t work out as you wanted. Deals fall through for a wide variety of reasons, and having a thorough under- standing of what went wrong can definitely help you the next time around. You always want to learn, while never making the same mistake twice. Who is the one individual who has been most influen - tial in your life? My mom, who taught me the core values that have helped me succeed. Things like being nice even if someone is rude to you, always asking questions, and working as hard as you

can. She was born outside the U.S., so most things didn’t come easily to her. When I was in elementary school, I needed to email teachers for her, just to set up parent-teacher confer- ences. But living with her, I was learning two distinct cul- tures, and that’s helped me to be self-sufficient, curious, and open-minded. What words of advice would you give to a young professional who’s just en- tering the job market? I’d warn against taking a particular job simply because continued on page 9C

accomplishment? For me, it was making the decision to leave behind a well-paying, salaried position so I could go into commercial real estate sales and work strictly on commission. It was a gamble, a leap of faith – and it worked out extremely well. Sometimes, you just need to take a risk. How do you contribute to your company’s ongoing success? By ensuring that all the dots connect. I share all available information with my team, and make sure to quickly pass along new details as they come in. It sounds like a somewhat small, simply thing – but en- suring that everyone has the same information, and that it’s up to date maximizes our chances of creating opportuni- ties and, when the time’s right, closing deals. What impact has network- ing had on your career? It’s hard to overstate the importance of networking. It’s absolutely essential to meet and establish relation- ships with professionals who do what you do and share your interests and passions. Particularly when you have a challenge to overcome – from construction, to financing, to property repairs – someone you’ve networked with may have the expertise or connec- tions to help you solve it. The way I look at it, networking gives you an entire book full of problem-solvers. Tell us how your career in commercial real estate began. Why did you choose this field? I graduated from college in May 2022, and took a job with a well-paying account- ing firm. I intended to work for this firm for several years and then begin investing in real estate. But, after about seven months, I just wasn’t happy – I was waking up each day and dreading going to the office. Clearly, I was doing a job that wasn’t meant for me. So, through a mutual connection I was introduced to Marcy Gross and Jonathan Glick of Sheldon Gross Realty; they explained to me how commercial real estate works and how someone would get started. They ultimately of- fered me a position; I accepted and got my real estate license

– and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made. What challenges and/or ob- stacles did you need to over- come to become successful?

It’s essential to accept that failure will come more fre- quently than success. Once you make peace with that, you can learn a lot from any situation
