Welcome to Ivy Tech Indy!

STUDENT SUCCESS Checklist Check your Ivy Tech email and login to MyIvy consistently (everyday or every other day) Meet with your Academic Advisor or Career Coach once every eight weeks Login to IvyLife and explore opportunities to get involved in on campus Join a student organization or discover what events are happening around your campus! Be familiar with your Academic Completion Plan (ACP) and make sure you are taking the correct courses If your plan changes, that’s okay! Just make sure to update it with the help of your Academic Advisor.

Register early for classes

Students who register at least 30 days before classes start do better because they have more time to prepare and make sure they have everything in place for the semester.

Make sure to take care of your account balance before you start classes Complete your FAFSA by April 15th for the next year to ensure you get as much funding as possible. Use academic and other support resources available to you on campus

WORDS TO KNOW Pre-requisites A requirement that needs to be met before taking a course. Co-requisites Separate courses required to be taken within the same 8- week session. Credit Hour Is a measure of time that indicates how many hours per week you can expect to be in a classroom. This number is doubled for 8-week courses.

Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) To remain in good standing with the college, and to maintain eligibility for financial aid, each student must do the following:

Here is a list of vocabulary words that make Ivy Tech Indianapolis unique. You will often hear these terms used on campus and we want you to be prepared!

Academic Advisors

IvyLearn

This is Ivy Tech’s online learning platform (Canvas). All classes use IvyLearn for things such as assignment submissions, discussion boards, announcements, and grades. It is important to login into IvyLearn regularly. IvyLife: Student Life This is where you make friends! Getting involved in IvyLife is the best way to make the most of your college experience. IvyLife is the platform the platform that allows you to learn about clubs, organizations, Student Government, and events happening around campus. You can access IvyLife through your MyIvy.

Your Academic Advisor will help you review your Academic Completion Plan (ACP) and register for classes. You can schedule an appointment in MyIvy to meet with your advisor either in-person, virtually, or over the phone. ACP Your Academic Completion Plan is your guide to selecting the right courses to take throughout your time at Ivy Tech. Your Academic Advisor will help you create and update your ACP. Career Coaches As an Ivy Tech student, you have access to Career Coaches through Career Link. Career Coaches can help you develop a clear plan for achieving your professional goals.

The Conference Center and Culinary Institute houses the Hospitality Administration Program, conference centers, in addition to the student- operated Courses Restaurant, Courses Bakery, and meeting spaces available to the public. FAFSA The Free Application for Federal Student Aid is a form that must be submitted annually in order to receive aid. your FAFSA will tell you which scholarships and grants you can receive, as well as how much money you can borrow in student loans.

GPA

Your grade point average is the numerical indication of your performance in all courses where points can be earned. Your average GPA is determined by dividing the number of hours you take into the total number of quality points.

Illinois Fall Creek Center is the central hub for the Indy campus, with classrooms and labs, study spaces, food services, and community rooms. It houses the following areas:

Indy Mascots Ivan the Bear was Ivy Tech Indy’s official mascot from 1993 - 2023. In 2023, the Indy campus held a contest to determine their new mascot, Koda the Bear. IvyCares IvyCares helps to connect students with resources in areas such as: Transportation assistance Food security Mental Health Resources

Satisfactory Academic Progress is a federal requirement for all financial aid recipients in order to continue receiving aid.

The Glick Technology Center is where you will be able to find Academic Advising offices, in addition to technology classrooms, labs, and faculty offices.
