We’re proud to have launched our pilot Retail Apprenticeship Programme—a key step in our commitment to developing talent and supporting local employment. Last month, we were delighted to welcome our first two apprentices, who have now started their journey in our stores in Broxburn and South Queensferry. These apprentices will gain valuable hands-on experience while working towards a nationally recognised qualification, delivered in partnership with our learning provider, Babington. They’ll be supported every step of the way through structured learning and mentoring from experienced colleagues. This initiative is designed to build essential retail skills—from customer service to store operations—setting them up for long- term success with the Society. This pilot is an exciting part of our wider strategy to invest in the communities we serve by creating meaningful career opportunities and the longer-term ambition is to roll the apprenticeship program out to other regions.
