Edinburgh to Host 18th International Fair Trade Towns Conference

A weekend of global voices, local action and shared commitment to fairness

Fair Trade advocates from across the world will descend on Edinburgh this summer for the 18th International Fair Trade Towns Conference, taking place on Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 August 2025, with a warm welcome reception on Friday 29 August. Hosted at the impressive Nucleus Building at the University of Edinburgh’s King’s Buildings Campus, the event will bring together campaigners, community leaders, businesses and policy-makers from the UK and beyond—all working to build a fairer, more sustainable global economy. Proudly Supported by Scotmid As a long-standing champion of ethical and community-driven retail, Scotmid is proud to support the 2025 conference. Our support reflects our commitment to Fair Trade principles and to amplifying local voices in the push for global change. Be part of a global community using local action to shape a fairer future.

What to Expect This year’s conference programme will:

• Highlight Fair Trade’s role in driving sustainable development and shaping a new, values-led economy • Share local stories with global impact, including community-led procurement, enterprise, and political action • Platform Scotland’s Fair Trade Nation status, demonstrating how grassroots campaigns can influence national and international policy. Whether you're a long-time advocate or new to Fair Trade, this conference is a chance to be inspired, learn, and connect with others passionate about making a difference.
