A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 11 We are immensely proud of our Year 11 students for successfully completing all their GCSE examinations. Their dedication and hard work have been truly commendable, and we wish them every success as they enjoy a restful summer and embark on the next exciting chapter of their academic journey. We very much looking forward to welcoming Year 11 to the Prom event at the Richmond Golf Club on Thursday, 26 June. A quick reminder about the planned road closure between Star and Garter Hill and River Lane from 8:00pm to 5:00am. This will be in effect during the key hours of Prom night and is likely to impact pick-up arrangements, particularly for those driving via Richmond. The Prom will commence promptly at 7:30pm, with the final entry permitted by 8:30pm, and all attendees are kindly asked to vacate the venue by 10:30pm. Students are responsible for arranging their own transport to and from the venue. In accordance with the venue’s policies, the following items are strictly prohibited: alcohol, chewing gum, mints, tobacco/vapes, and water bottles. To ensure a safe and enjoyable evening for all, bag searches will be conducted upon entry. We advise students to avoid bringing valuables, as they will be solely responsible for their belongings throughout the evening. The venue reserves the right to refuse entry or remove any students whose behaviour is deemed inappropriate or disruptive. We are confident it will be a memorable and joyous occasion, honoring their time and achievements at Waldegrave School. Should there be any updates to your emergency contact information that differ from the school’s current records, please inform us promptly. It is vital that the individuals named as emergency contacts are reachable on the night, as this is a key part of the safeguarding measures we have in place. We eagerly look forward to an evening filled with celebration, laughter, and lasting memories!
BOOK OF THE MONTH
‘King of Nothing’ by Nathanael Lessore
I really really really enjoyed this book! I specifically enjoyed how realistic and actually quite intense it was towards the end. The characters are all written so well. For example I really like how you can tell Anton is not as bad as Kehinde from the start when he kind of defended Mathew when Kehinde was about to give him a hard time. The scene where Mathew and Anton are at a sleepover and they’re talking about his nan made me cry! It was just so wholesome and the boys’ unexpected friendship is such a lovely part of the book. I will definitely suggest this book to people in the future!
