2023 BUILT A BETTER 2024
Our theme in 2023 was investing in our people, processes, and facilities for the future. We knew 2023 would be a challenging year across most markets in terms of the pace and volume of construction business and, thus, sales for the company. Business cycles are not unusual or unexpected, nor do they cause serious concern. Business cycles are normal, expected, and the time to take advantage of opportunities in the next growth or expansion cycle. This was a focus for us throughout the year. We navigated many role changes, implemented new tools and systems, and built new facilities. Some of that work is ongoing as we enter the new year, but most is complete. So, that brings us to 2024. The focus in 2024 is to reap the benefits of our investments in 2023 to grow our market share dramatically in the Treasure Valley and other markets across the company. We are in an excellent position to do this with a more experienced and seasoned team, better processes and systems, and expanded facilities. While we do not expect the housing or remodeling market to grow in size in 2024, we must capture more of our fair share of the market and spend so that we are doing more business with every preferred customer in every market across the company. This is why we are budgeting for a sales and net profit increase in 2024. This isn’t wishful thinking but a plan we can execute and potentially exceed if we all row at the same pace and in the same direction throughout the year.
I’m articulating here isn’t just a plan for the company. It’s a plan for you, the employee-owners, and along with our valued
customers, you are the ones who will reap the benefits. You own the company and you benefit when
it performs better and becomes more valuable. You benefit not just if you retire from FBS but as soon as you become vested and may decide to leave FBS in five or 10 years. Did you know the average employee will have two additional YEARS of compensation sitting in their ESOP account after spending 10 years with the company? That’ll help buy a home, pay for a remodel, send a kid or two to college, buy a car … It’s significant and could be life-changing. That’s the opportunity at FBS, built a year at a time. Let’s make 2024 a year when we aggressively reap the benefits of all the investments, improvements, and changes we made in 2023. Employee ownership isn’t for everyone, but it’s for us, and nothing can stand in our way if we resolve to deliver more value for each other and our customers this year.

Easy From: Layne Bingham, Boise To: Boise Finish-Door Production Team
“High five to Brady in our yard; he came from Caldwell and has brought a fresh mind for continuous improvement in our yard. We appreciate everything he has been able to help us with.”
“I just wanted to give a HIGH FIVE to our production team, especially Kaden. I had a customer bring in a door he ordered from us that didn’t fit the frame we built. He needed us to cut the width down by a 1/4-inch. I told him that it would be ready by the middle of next week. I talked to Kaden about it to make sure that we took special care of it because it was an 8–10-week lead time for a new one, and it was already painted. Kaden took it upon himself to get it done the same day. Our production team is always willing to go the extra mile to do what is right for the customer. Thank you for all you do, guys!”
Safe From: Chris Trammell, McCall To: Mack Capps, McCall
“A customer called me this morning and told me our driver, Mack Capps, did a great job on a delivery last week. The job is in Smith’s Ferry, feet from the busy highway, with little room to safely unload the material. Mack safely handled the delivery like a pro with a positive attitude and made an impression.”
Wow From: Steve Cloyd, Boise

To: Christian Anderson and the Door and Finish Estimating Team “Thank you to the DDF Estimating Team, specifically Christian Anderson, for going the extra mile to help complete an important quote for a customer. The customer sent us the plans for two multi- family townhome projects and requested the quote back the next day. Christian went over and above to input nine separate unit takeoffs
“Quintin has begun helping with the store counts. He’s been working really hard and even got over 200 items counted in less than three hours. He’s always a real team player and has offered to help me again any time I need it.”
INTRODUCING OUR 2024 PAID PARENTAL LEAVE POLICY!
At Franklin Building Supply, we believe in supporting our employees at every stage of life. We’re thrilled to announce our new Paid Parental Leave Policy, designed to provide comprehensive support to growing families within our workforce. We recognize the significance of this crucial period for new parents, so we’ve expanded our benefits to ensure that individuals have the time and financial stability to bond with their newborn or adopted child. Effective immediately, this new policy reflects our commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive workplace culture. Key Features of the New Policy* • For the Birthing Parent: We now offer up to eight weeks of paid leave! This encompasses up to six weeks allocated for childbirth and recovery, followed by two additional weeks for bonding. We understand the importance of physical recuperation and bonding during this pivotal time. • For the Non-Birthing Parent or Adopted Parents: We provide two weeks of paid leave! This extension demonstrates our acknowledgment that support and bonding are vital for the primary caregiver and the entire family unit. This policy is a significant step forward in ensuring our employees have the resources to navigate the complexities of welcoming new

In the Spotlight
to Call Us ‘Home’ IN THE SPOTLIGHT
Proud That Kevin Chooses
At Franklin Building Supply, our team members are more than just colleagues — they are family. We take immense pride in fostering a work environment where everyone is valued and has the opportunity for their skills to shine. Excellence is not just a goal — it’s a standard we uphold in all aspects of our operations, and that starts with our team members. Kevin Teague is an assistant manager at our Boise Yard location and works hard to help us maintain the reputation we’ve built over the years. His passion for excellence is evident in every interaction with our customers. Day in and day out, Kevin works to oversee all operations at this location. ”I wear many hats each day, helping in all areas of our Boise Yard, including deliveries, dispatch, load building, receiving, and will call,” he tells us. “I lead a team of 30-plus employees to come
together to accomplish all our deliveries and customer service interactions.” Kevin appreciates the amazing individuals that he leads and takes safety very seriously. As you can imagine, working with machinery and large supplies behind the scenes can be tricky, and care is an important aspect of keeping everyone safe. “It’s my goal to make sure our team goes home safely every day,” Kevin says. Outside work, Kevin tries to ride his Harley as often as possible and enjoys bow hunting, jeeping, and relaxing with his wife. Great employees like Kevin are the backbone of our success, and we recognize and appreciate the unique contributions our employee-owners bring to our Franklin Building Supply Family! Thank you, Kevin, for all that you do! The past six years have been amazing, and we look forward to many more!
