The conference featured a well-balanced budget of $28,800, with actual expenses amounting to $28,015.01, leaving a surplus of $784.99. This financial prudence, coupled with the successful execution of the event, underscores the commission's commitment to excellence and resourcefulness. College Tours and Educational Initiatives This year, 350 Kappa Leaguers were taken on a college tour that included visits to Morehouse College, Clark Atlanta University, and Morris Brown College. These tours provided invaluable exposure to higher education and inspired many young men to pursue academic excellence. Additionally, 22 chapters received Naviance Training, granting them free access to ACT/SAT prep, and resources for college, military, and career readiness. The introduction of "Scholarship Money Mondays," which provided weekly scholarship updates via BAND and GroupMe, further supported our Kappa Leaguers in their pursuit of higher education. Leadership and Financial Literacy The commission also placed a strong emphasis on leadership development and financial literacy. A province-wide Financial Literacy Seminar, conducted by Brother JB McGinnis, was offered to all Kappa Leaguers and their families, equipping them with the knowledge to make informed financial decisions. The collaboration between Newnan-Fairburn and College Park chapters, as well as the successful attendance of Kappa Leaguers at the Black College Expo, where several were accepted to HBCUs on the spot, highlighted the commission's commitment to building stronger connections and fostering opportunities for young men. National Recognition and Competitive Success The Southeastern Province also received national recognition at the 2024 National Kappa League Conference. Our Kappa Leaguers showcased their talents and skills in various competitions, including #KLTV, Poetry Slam (where LDAC's Chase Pringle won), Math Competition (represented by ASA), and the National Debate, where DAC made it to the finals. These achievements underscore the talent and dedication of our young men, as well as the effectiveness of the Guide Right program in preparing them for success.
SOUTHEASTERN PROVINCE GUIDE RIGHT: A TIME OF IMPACT AND ACHIEVEMENT The Southeastern Province Guide Right Committee, chaired by Brother Randall Sherrell, has had an extraordinary year, marked by significant accomplishments and milestones that highlight the program's growth, impact, and dedication to nurturing future leaders. With 25 chapters and a total of 945 Kappa Leaguers across the province, the Guide Right program has expanded its reach and influence, making a tangible difference in the lives of young men. Academic Excellence and Financial Success One of the standout achievements this year was the remarkable success of our graduating seniors. Fifty members of the class of 2024 collectively earned over $15 million in scholarships, a testament to their hard work and the support provided by the Guide Right program. The commission also completed a successful ACT Summer Program, benefiting 15 students and furthering their academic readiness. A Historic Kappa League Conference The Southeastern Province Kappa League Conference, held from February 16th to 18th and hosted by the Atlanta Alumni Chapter, was a momentous occasion. The event, which coincided with the centennial celebration of the Atlanta Alumni Chapter, attracted 360 Kappa Leaguers and Brothers of Kappa Alpha Psi, making it the second-largest conference in the province's history.
