The Khronicle: 27th Administration Edition

In any great organization, the power of the written word—when used with intention and integrity—can shape legacies, honor achievements, and influence decisions. Within the Southeastern Province of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., this responsibility rests with the Resolutions Committee , currently led with distinction by Brother Harry McFadden . This committee holds the unique honor of crafting formal resolutions of support or non- support that reflect the collective voice of the Province. Whether recognizing a chapter’s milestone anniversary, celebrating the service of a distinguished brother , or responding to a proposal before the Grand Board or Grand Polemarch , the committee ensures that these sentiments are presented with precision, dignity, and consensus. UNDERSTANDING THE ROLE OF THE RESOLUTIONS COMMITTEE IN THE SOUTHEASTERN PROVINCE

What Is a Resolution?

A resolution is an official statement issued on behalf of the Province that acknowledges, supports, or takes a stance on a particular subject. These can range from: Support for a Brother being nominated for a national award Recognition of a Chapter’s anniversary or special achievement Endorsements or objections to initiatives or proposals being considered at the Grand Chapter level

The Process

1. Submission of Request Any chapter or individual brother within the Southeastern Province can submit a request for a resolution. These requests typically center around support, recognition, or positioning on an issue that affects the fraternity locally or nationally. 2. Committee Review and Deliberation Once received, the Resolutions Committee meets to review the merit and context of the request. The committee discusses the proposed language, evaluates the alignment with fraternity values and precedents, and then votes on whether to move the resolution forward. 3. Presentation at the Province Council: Approved resolutions are presented during the Province Council for review and confirmation. This step ensures that the resolution reflects the shared values and intentions of the Province. 4. Conferral and Signatures Once a resolution is passed, it is formally signed by the Province Polemarch and the Province Keeper of Records. This official signature confirms the resolution as a formal act of the Southeastern Province.
