During this administration, the division has efficiently investigated over 10 different complaints, leading to significant disciplinary actions that reinforce the fraternity’s commitment to integrity. These investigations have resulted in: 4 chapter suspensions , demonstrating the fraternity’s dedication to upholding chapter-level accountability. Over 40 individual suspensions of brothers emphasize the importance of personal responsibility. 25 expulsions , reinforcing the zero-tolerance policy towards serious violations. While suspensions are a common outcome, in many cases, the process may conclude with probation, allowing violators an opportunity for redemption while under close supervision. Throughout all stages, the division makes every effort to adhere to timelines and ensure that the rights of all involved are protected.
The Investigation Process
The fraternity’s procedures for handling complaints are structured and transparent, respecting due process for all parties involved. The typical process includes:
1. Complaint Submission: A concern or alleged violation is formally reported. 2. Notification: The fraternity is informed of the complaint and begins an internal review. 3. Initial Review and Determination: The fraternity evaluates the complaint and determines whether to proceed with an investigation. 4. Cease and Desist: The chapter or brother in question may be placed on Cease and Desist status to prevent further conduct violations during the review. 5. Investigation Assignment: An investigator is appointed to examine the case thoroughly. 6. Reporting Findings: The investigator submits a detailed report of findings. 7. Hearing Conducted: A hearing officer is assigned to oversee the hearing process, where evidence and testimony are reviewed. 8. Recommendation and Sanctions: Based on the hearing, sanctions are recommended and sent to the Province Polemarch. 9. Final Sanction : Sanctions are formally issued by the fraternity’s Code of Conduct.
