CEO A NOTE FROM John Hello Club Members, I don’t know about you, but I’m happy to finally see some welcome signs of spring — the stronger sun’s rays, the last of the snow melting away, and longer daylight hours. This past year has reinforced how important it is to continue to celebrate life’s special moments and events, albeit virtually or through wonderful surprises arriving at our doorsteps. With the increase in vaccinations along with the warmer weather, we can all begin seeing our loved ones in person more often. How nice to see some normalcy on the horizon! After 40 years since the introduction of the Collector’s Club, one of the deepest lessons we’ve taken to heart is that beauty isn’t something you see, but rather something you feel. There is a reason we get butterflies when we’re near loved ones, feel genuine joy when spending time with friends, and happiness radiates from us while visiting our favorite places. It’s the beauty in these moments that makes them so special. Today we are fortunate to be able to collect and enjoy Mr. Butcher’s works of art and in doing so, share life’s most cherished moments with those we love. As you enjoy the spring and beginning of summer, we are glad to be able to start planning for upcoming important events and milestones — Mother’s Day, graduations, baptisms, birthdays, and more — virtually or safely in person. Chapel News Greetings from the Precious Moments Chapel! Have you been to beautiful Carthage, MO lately? We invite you to experience the Chapel, whether it is your first time or 100th. While any season is a great time to visit, spring and summer bring gorgeous scenery to the Chapel’s splendid grounds, allowing you to capture some amazing photos, discover unique finds in the Archive Shoppe and

Precious Moments Family Reunion Event 2021 We are so excited to announce that the Family Reunion is back and in-person for 2021! An Interview With Hiko 5 Questions With Master Sculptor Hiko Maeda 1. Precious Moments figurines have many details that bring beauty and grace together. How long does a standard size figurine take to sculpt, from start to finish? It depends on how detailed the figurine is. For a standard size single figurine, it takes two to three days to complete. 2. Many Club Members may not know this, but you are a fan of rock music and even play guitar in your free time. What other hobbies do you enjoy? I play regular acoustic and electric guitar. I played in a rock band with my friend when I was young (before I moved to the United States). I like to constantly improve my skills. I love learning and practicing my art (sculpting and painting), music (guitar and singing), and sports. I love the ’80s or ’90s music from my generation, as well as many Guitar Hero songs.
3. You recently sculpted a beautifully stunning figurine of Jesus with angels surrounding Him. What inspired you to create such a detailed piece of artwork? This year and throughout 2020, everyone had a difficult time and we all learned patience because of COVID-19. I saw many people on Facebook or other social media websites who were sharing their prayers, constantly saying “My God, please help us with…” I thought that if I show them my sculpture of the beautiful Jesus and angels, it might help them to feel better. That was my challenge to myself in creating it.

4. As we enter our 40th Anniversary of the Collectors’ Club, what has been your most favorite Collectors’ Club figurine to sculpt, and why? I am currently working on sculpting the 2022 Collectors’ Club Members’ Only figurines and those are by far my favorite. You will have to stay tuned to see what those look like!

5. What is one of the first figurines you sculpted for the Collectors’ Club?
This is a special one from my collection – the Collectors’ Club Members’ Only 15th Anniversary figurine A Perfect Display Of Fifteen Happy Years . I love this figurine, I think it’s so cute and very detailed. There are 15 small Symbol of Membership figurines with a girl. The shelf design comes from a shelf that is in Mr. Butcher's house. I was just a young sculptor in Japan when I sculpted this one. Before this project nobody knew if I could continue sculpting or not. But after I finished this one, it gave me the confidence to continue sculpting more for my career with Precious Moments.

“My Mom gave me the figurine You Are Always There For Me where the Mom is taking care of the girl’s injured leg. This was especially special to me as I was born with a medical condition called lymphedema in my left leg. My mom literally was there for me every day in every way to get me through each and every day. “At my house family vacations consisted of traveling in my Dad’s 1970 Chevy pickup truck (usually to Missouri to visit family). Whenever we would see a couple on a motorcycle my Dad would always say that we needed to get a motorcycle with a sidecar for my Mom and me to ride in. That was always his big joke. My Dad passed away in August of 2016 and that Christmas my Mom gave me the figurine Forever By Your Side . I will cherish it forever as it’s a little piece of my Mom and Dad.” Joanna A.
