Managing the mechanical interior fit ups with The Legacy Companies Don’t Sweat It: Hutchinson keeps members cool at The Edge Fitness Clubs
itness enthusiasts work- ing up a sweat at one of The Edge Fitness Clubs in New Jersey will be cool and comfortable during their work- outs thanks to Hutchinson, a leading energy/mechanical services contractor. The Connecticut-based The Edge Fitness Clubs recently made its debut into the Phila- delphia market as part of its overall expansion, and turned to Hutchinson for its expert recommendations/designs. Throughout its 30-year his- tory, The Edge Fitness Clubs has earned a reputation as a premium health club with an abundance of amenities, designed to offer something for everyone at every fitness level – at a reasonable price. With the most advanced and modern equipment, a large turf and sprint area, cutting-edge individual and group train- ing and amenities (including a women's-only area, Edge Strong team training, Edge Kids programming, vast array of free weights and machines,
saunas, tanning, massage, Edge Café and Edge Cinema). Personal training, small group training, and group exercise classes like total body condi- tioning, kickboxing, spinning, Zumba, yoga, boot camp, and more are also offered. “Temperature control, proper air flow and ventilation are key to keeping our members comfortable in our fitness fa- cilities – from our workout area, to our fitness classrooms and our locker rooms,” said Don Riccio, construction man- ager, president and founder of Legacy Cos., who was hand- picked by the owners from The Edge Fitness Clubs to oversee the design and construction of every facility from DE to CT. “Hutchinson is a valuable partner; they provided solid recommendations, did excep- tional work and worked within our budget.” Hutchinson’s work includes installation and design of the duct systems, registers and new high- efficiency exterior rooftop units. In addition, Hutchinson set up a high-end Wi-Fi tem- perature control system for all locations to enable The Edge Fitness Center’s corporate HQ to manage and control the temperature for each room from their home base. Through this remote system, Hutchinson’s service team is alerted imme- diately once there is an alarm causing temperatures to rise or fall in any room. A technician is then dispatched through a mobile app. To ensure the proper temper- ature and optimal comfort level in various parts of the club, The Edge Fitness Centers takes ex- tra measures by outfitting each fitness center with 14-16 high efficiency HVAC units. “Hutchinson consistently of- fers value engineering to help keep project costs down. It of- fers new innovative ideas for our consideration, and most importantly they have the man- power to be able to get in and out of these jobs efficiently,” said Riccio. The Edge Fitness Clubs has also retained Hutchinson to handle the service and mainte- nance on all RTU’s for the next five years under a full (parts & labor) warranty program. The clubs will receive Hutchinson’s expert service and keep their investments running at optimal performance as well as maxi- mizing the life expectancy with fewer service calls. n
