programs and reap financial savings. The fact is, there has never been a better time for busi- nesses and local govern- ments to explore energy upgrades. We make it easy for customers by leading them throughout the entire process and recommended a plan – including the latest strategies and technologies to help reduce energy con- sumption and improve the bottom line. One of our customers, South Jersey Federal Union,

initially thought Direct In- stall was too good to be true. After learning more about the program and receiving a free energy assessment, they signed up for the program. In just one year, they saved $15,842. Another customer, Princ- eton, NJ-based Gund Invest- ment Corporation, a family office with an interest in ear- ly-stage investments, turned to Hutchinson Mechanical Services to get a return on investment for their energy upgrades.

Gund also tapped into Di- rect Install fromNewJersey’s Clean Energy Program. We converted Gund’s inefficient oil fired boilers – which dated back to the 1970s – to ultra- efficient gas fired boilers. The newly installed system has redundancies and is very clean and efficient. Gund received $22,000 in Direct Install incentives. Their outlaywas only $14,500 and it was recovered it less than one-and-a-half years.

about the need to stretch their dollars. They consider reducing manpower, cutting marketing budgets and more. Looking at energy savings clearly isn’t top-of-mind. I get it. They’re focused on what’s in front of them and thinking of the moment. And when it’s 50 degrees outside, they’re not thinking about energy efficient upgrades to keep their office cooler and more comfortable during the hot summer months. Recently, I served on an energy panel and provided businesses with an update on popular green incentive programs like Direct Install offered through the NJ Office of Clean Energy - where NJ buildings are eligible to save up to 70% energy efficient project. Businesses only pay 30 per- cent of the total cost to install high efficiency systems like lighting, heating and cool- ing, refrigeration, natural gas equipment and more. Businesses not only save up front but will cut costs for years to come through lower utility bills. Direct Install is created specifically for small to me- dium-sized facilities with a monthly peak demand of 200 kW or less and up to 25-ton rooftops. I was shocked that many people in the audience were not aware of Direct Install. Others thought it sounded too good to be true. So, I’m on a mission to tell businesses that it’s real, it’s a fantastic program and it won’t last forever. There’s no reason not to look into energy program incentives. By making “going green” part of your conversation and part of the equation – you can take advantage of incentive
