GETTING UNSTUCK What if I had remained in “perfectionist paralysis?”
Before I published my first book, I was stuck. I had poured my years of financial strategy research and experience into a first draft. But I knew the manuscript could be better. I kept working and reworking it. Those pages might never have seen the printing press if it weren’t for sage advice from my friend and mentor, Strategic Coach Dan Sullivan. He encouraged me to get the book out into the world by trusting what he calls the 80% Approach™. The 80% Approach asserts that when you have something — a project, process, or product — that is at least 80% completed, you launch it. You don’t wait to perfect it. You don’t hide behind “what if it could be better?” Of course it can be better, and it will, but instead of holding back, you push it out, gather feedback, and continue to hone it as you go. I took his advice; printed a first edition; and continued to refine the book over the next few editions. That book led to my next bestsellers, which in turn led to many other fruitful ventures.
I have learned throughout my life to identify possibilities, formulate goals, and jump in to do everything I can to make those opportunities a reality.

I’ve come to see obstacles as stepping stones and failures as fuel for future successes.

I understand, however, when others say setting out on a new venture can trigger a fear of failure. Obstacles can become impenetrable walls. Anxiety can halt progress.

But when anyone finds themselves in this mindset, I say: Rethink your thinking.
4 Tools to Catapult Your Year
FAILURE CAN BE GOOD Like I tell my employees, children, and grandchildren: Fail fast, and fail often! Thomas Edison is known for his storied 10,000 failures that preceded the successful invention of the incandescent light bulb. So take heart: Big failures can lead to big success. But maybe it’s not the fear of failure that holds some people back; maybe it’s the inability to see a clear path to success; or the journey ahead feels overwhelming. When teaching about goals, I have had some folks who fret about how much they have to change to improve their professional or personal lives.

BE A POSSIBILITY THINKER Focus on what it is you really want. Make that the star of your show, and let the obstacles, fears, and worries play a minor role. Our 3 Dimensional Wealth strategies can help you identify where it is you want to go, how to get there, and help you overcome obstacles along the way.
INTELLECTUAL DIMENSION GOALS • What continuing education will I invest in? • Which mastermind groups will I join? • What professional books will I read?
It’s the start of a new year, and while I’m a proponent of year-round goal-setting, it’s a perfect time to create your 2023 vision for growth in all 3 Dimensions of Authentic Wealth.
FINANCIAL DIMENSION GOALS •
Take a moment now to imagine the possibilities — ask yourself questions like:
How will I optimize my long-term financial strategies — will I open a new IUL LASER Fund? What other changes can I make to bolster my financial health in a potentially volatile year? What rules of governance will we add to our family’s KASH Blueprint this year?
FOUNDATIONAL DIMENSION GOALS • What talents do I want to develop? • Which charitable endeavors do I want to be involved in? • What relationships do I want to begin, mend, or enrich?
The key is to avoid getting stuck before you even get started.
•
So keep in mind as you read through this issue: Possibility thinkers are resilient, knowing that obstacles are the raw material for eventual success.

1 WAY TO HELP KIDS ACHIEVE GOALS
TEACH THEM TO GET SMART
When my 11-year-old daughter, Taylor, recently started playing basketball, she said she wanted to become a really good basketball player. I asked her to think about what that meant. She articulated that she wanted to learn how to handle the ball well, dribble well, shoot better.
Have you ever run into similar scenarios? Teaching kids how to set goals and maintain the momentum needed to achieve them can be challenging (and not unlike keeping our adult selves on track with reaching goals!). HOW TO GO FROM WISHING TO ACHIEVING I often turn to something my dad teaches — the SMART goal method:
Not only does this encourage accountability — but it also fosters support from all of us who care about them (parents, grandparents, coaches, church leaders, and friends). Harmony and I have found it’s not always easy or fun to be the “goal coaches,” but helping kids build these muscles now will strengthen them for success throughout their lives.
I love to see our kids set goals, so I empowered her by buying her one of those DribbleUp smart basketballs.
When I followed up to see how her DribbleUp workouts were going, her response was, “But Dad, I’m tiiiired!” I explained, “That’s exactly when you do it!” WHEN GOALS GET TOUGH We saw a similar trajectory when Ethan, who is wrestling as a high school freshman, joined the team with big energy, only to hit the “practice is hard” wall a few weeks later. I encouraged him, saying, “Practice is really hard, but do you think achieving your goal is supposed to be easy? You've got to trust your coach, trust the process.”

We need to help our kids set goals that are precise, not general, that are achievable, and that pertain to their real-life circumstances. We also need to help them identify how they’ll gauge their progress, and when. It’s a good practice to set mini-goals that will lead to the big-picture goal. And it’s important they share their goals.
As you assist the children in your life with setting their 2023 goals, you’re invited to use the 3 Dimensional Wealth tools highlighted in the article on Page 4.
My wife, Harmony, has similar conversations with our daughters over violin and piano practice.

DRINK MORE WATER!
EVEN IF YOU HAVE TO TRICK YOURSELF INTO DOING SO
One of the tools our 3 Dimensional Wealth community has embraced the most is The Clarity Statement. It’s an all-in-one tool for setting a primary goal in each of the 3 Dimensions, with prompts to identify how to achieve BREAKthroughs in each area.
For many, maintaining proper hydration is difficult — after all, water is essentially tasteless. According to Mayo Clinic, women should be ingesting 11.5 cups of water each day, and men should have 15.5 cups daily. This amount can be tough to swallow, but it’s important that you try because water is essential to keep your body fully functional — and your health is an important Foundational Asset! Here are some tips to up your water game. INVEST IN A ‘FLUID BUDDY’ Believe it or not, purchasing a thermos or reusable water bottle and taking it everywhere is a great way to increase your water intake. With a constant reminder to drink H2O in your cupholder, purse, or on your desk, taking a sip here and there will never slip your mind. CONSUME FOODS RICH IN H2O Did you know that most fruits and vegetables are rich in water? Watermelon is 91% water, celery is 95% water, zucchini is 95% water, and honeydew and cantaloupe are both 90% water. Not only are these fruits refreshing, but they also pack a punch when it comes to hydration! DON’T FORGET THE STRAW Straws help you consume more fluid in a shorter amount of time. Whether at home or a restaurant, sipping water through a straw can help you take in more without realizing it.
I invite you to download it and start your year strong, leveraging this powerful catalyst for harnessing your 3
Dimensional possibilities (To download The Clarity Statement, use the QR code on Page 1.)

FUN FOOD IDEAS HAWAIIAN HAYSTACKS Getting together as a family this month? Here’s an easy Andrew family favorite. (Plus, with lots of protein, veggies, and fruit, it’s a good-for-you meal!)
INGREDIENTS
BUILD A ROUTINE For many, drinking water just slips their minds.
• 1/2 cup each of chopped carrots, onions, and celery • 2 tbsp oil or butter, divided (for sautéing) • 6–8 chicken breasts or 10–12 chicken thighs • 4–6 cups chicken broth (for boiling the chicken) • 1/2 tsp each of poultry seasoning, sage, thyme, salt, and pepper • 1 cup sliced mushrooms • 2 10.5-oz cans cream of chicken soup • 3–4 cups cooked rice • TOPPINGS: Grated carrots, diced celery, diced green peppers, diced green onions, grapes, mandarin oranges, shredded coconut, burnt almond slivers, chow mein noodles
By building a routine, you’ll be on your way to meeting your daily hydration needs without thinking twice. For example, you can get in the habit of drinking
one large glass of water before bed and another
upon waking. A large glass of water before each meal is also beneficial.
DIRECTIONS
FLAVOR YOUR WATER Whether you use citrus, mint leaves, cucumbers, or other flavor enhancers, giving your water a hint of a flavorful taste will help you drink more without it feeling like a chore.
1. Sauté veggies with 1 tablespoon of oil or butter, then add broth, chicken, and seasonings. Bring to a boil then reduce heat and simmer until chicken is fully cooked. 2. Remove chicken, shred it, and add it back to the broth and veggie mixture. Sauté mushrooms with remaining oil or butter and add to chicken and veggie mixture along with cream of chicken soup. Stir until fully mixed and heat to a simmer. 3. Once chicken and veggie gravy is at desired temperature, set out for buffet-style serving, alongside toppings and rice. Now everyone can customize their own haystacks!
Whether consuming water is difficult because you are busy, forget to drink, get bored by the flavorless taste, or dislike the taste, with these tips, you are sure to be on your way to maintaining hydration and good health.

You meditate and envision great workouts. But you haven’t walked more than a mile at a time over the last few months. GO TEAM GO!
Regardless of the type of work any of us does, most of us have to tackle new projects in one way or another. It’s an iterative process that often requires us to have vision, identify problems, and find solutions. It’s essentially goal setting and project management in one.
STRATEGIES FOR YOUR TEAM’S NEXT PROJECT
We’ve created two tools we use at the start of just about every new initiative — The Project Clarifier and The Solution Formulator:
What kind of work do you do? Are you responsible for taking projects from idea to implementation? Do you lead a team? People you need to guide through creative or productive processes?
The Project Clarifier - When a new undertaking is still in the early phase, this tool is perfect for distilling wide-ranging ideas into actionable concepts. The Solution Formulator - Thinking of taking on a significant initiative? This in-depth tool breaks it down into nine critical steps to cut through the clutter, gain clarity, and launch your next big thing. Both of these tools have been invaluable in developing our services. We’d love to share them with you to use with your team at work (and your crew at home).
As a company dedicated to sharing 3 Dimensional Wealth knowledge with our clients, we’ve long been in the trenches of innovating products and tools to elevate our clients’ lives. Over the years, our team has produced a wide array of educational tools—from video and audio series (over 500 and counting), to Doug’s radio show (ultimately reaching more than one hundred markets), and now Doug’s podcast and YouTube channel (with nearly 74,000 subscribers). We’ve also taken books from that first blank page to in-depth explanations of often complex principles, many of which have gone on to become bestsellers.

VOLUNTEERING CAN BE GOOD FOR YOUR HEALTH Sharing Your Time Can Become Your Favorite Exercise
Staying active is vital for our health, but pain, injury, or the lack of an exercise location can limit how we keep fit. Luckily, there is an easy way to have an active lifestyle without lifting weights or joining a gym: volunteering! Not only does volunteering improve your physical health,it also gives back to society (both of which are Foundational Assets). Here are three reasons volunteering can be your new favorite exercise if you’re looking to flex some physical, mental, or social “muscle.” IT MOVES YOU Volunteering offers different ways to move your body! Even small things like strolling through a park to pick up litter, navigating around a soup kitchen, or directing visitors at your local donation center keep you active.
If your mobility is limited, most organizations are happy to modify more strenuous activities (like lifting heavy boxes or walking up a steep hill) to fit your abilities. So, if you’re just beginning or modifying an exercise habit, volunteering is a perfect step in your fitness journey. YOUR BRAIN EXPANDS When you volunteer with others, you usually have a common goal, like feeding the community, cleaning up a park, or planting a garden. Joining others to accomplish a task provides a significant brain boost, and studies show camaraderie increases positive thoughts and feelings. On top of feeling better, volunteering keeps your mind agile. By working hard to solve a problem, you’re using more neural pathways, which helps you stay mentally sharp.
YOU FORM CONNECTIONS As we mentioned earlier, when you show up to volunteer, others usually attend for the same reason. Socializing with the group can help you feel less isolated and more connected to others, and some of these people may even become your friends when the job is complete. Doug and his wife, Sharee, regularly volunteer to mentor youth at detention centers, boys’ and girls’ group homes, and crisis residential centers — and you can follow their lead. If you want to get active but don’t know of volunteer opportunities in your area, visit VolunteerMatch.org and enter your zip code to find local in-person options. Help yourself and others by making volunteer work your go-to exercise!
LIGHT A BONFIRE If the location of your picnic permits, light a fire to cozy up next to. Some beaches and campgrounds have designated firepit areas to start a fire while enjoying a warm winter meal. You can even cook your food over the fire! Remember to be careful when building a fire in the wilderness and take proper safety precautions.
This time of year, we all enjoy nestling up by a fire, cuddling under a blanket on the couch, or enjoying a warm cup of joe at the local coffee shop. If someone were to propose a winter picnic at the local park, you’d probably think they were crazy. But don’t be so quick to dismiss the idea. With these four tips for hosting a winter picnic, you'll be up for having lunch outside in January any time. In the process, you’ll build lasting family memories that strengthen your Foundational Dimension. KEEP WARM Maintaining heat in winter is at the forefront of all concerns, and your winter picnic is no different. Be sure to pack hats, scarves, gloves, blankets, socks, and an extra set of clothing for unexpected changes in the weather. Believe it or not, a large beach umbrella is extremely helpful in protecting you from the winter elements. You can even plan some active picnic games to keep your body moving and the heat flowing! IT’S COZY SEASON! 4 Tips for a Successful Winter Picnic
PACK HOT MEALS Picnics are all about ease and relaxation! Here are some toasty and hearty winter picnic meal ideas to help warm you up:
• • • • •
• • • •
Soup Stew
Baked mac and cheese Loaded baked potatoes
Pot pie
Quiche
Toasted sandwich or panini
Chili
Warm brownies
KEEP IT SIMPLE Remember, it doesn’t need to be complicated! Even just a thermos of hot chocolate; some warm, freshly baked cookies; a bunch of blankets; and hats and gloves are plenty for a winter picnic — ultimately, it’s all about soaking up the beauty of the most wonderful time of the year! You can enjoy a picnic with your spouse or invite your kids and/or grandkids to make the gathering even more meaningful.

UNDERSTANDING INDEXING
It’s no secret our favorite financial vehicle is a properly structured, maximum-funded Indexed Universal Life policy (or what we call an IUL LASER Fund).
And What It Can Do for Your Future
In our book “The LASER Fund,” we explain one of the unique advantages of IUL LASER Funds — indexing. Here’s a peek behind the scenes to see what indexing can do for you. PROTECTION FROM MARKET VOLATILITY When we talk about indexes, we’re talking about things like the S&P 500, the Dow Jones, the Russell 2000. With properly structured IUL policies, you can choose index strategies that LINK TO market indexes, without actually putting your money at risk IN the market. Let’s look at a real-life illustration to explain. Between 2000 and 2010 (which proved to be the worst decade for the market since the Great Depression), the market experienced five down years and five up years, and in that time, the average return was 7.23%. During the down years, folks with money safely tucked inside IUL LASER Funds didn’t lose a dime to market volatility. During those five up years, for example, Doug earned significantly and only capped out twice. By using three different index strategies over that decade, he did better than most — he averaged 9.62%. Indexing allows the money in your policy to gain interest when the stock market goes up, and to be completely protected from losses due to market volatility when the market goes down (with a 0% guaranteed floor).
volatility index accounts. You can also choose among strategies like the one-year point-to-point, two-year point-to-point, and five-year point-to-last-year-average.
You have the flexibility to make choices that work for you, such as whether to leave your selected index strategies as your default, or to change it up to accommodate shifts in the market like Doug did. Your IUL specialist can help you optimize your IUL LASER Fund strategies. Indexing is just one of the key advantages of the IUL LASER Fund. We invite you to explore how this unique financial vehicle can provide unparalleled liquidity, safety, predictable rates of return, and tax advantages — and how it can make a significant difference in your financial portfolio.
Find out how indexing can strengthen your financial future. Order your free copy of the bestselling book “The LASER Fund” today.
