compost and the sustainability around it all is really extraordinary because everyone just believes in it. “That’s something that I’m really kind of proud of. The rewards are great for the restaurant and the staff but when you’re actually making an impact on the environment and all the people around you to do the right thing, I think that’s when you know you’re onto a good thing. That’s pretty special.” The Tourism Tasmania awards proved just as big night for the home of Grain of the Silos, Peppers Silo Launceston, as well. Securing gold in the Business Event Venues category for the third consecutive year qualified the venue for automatic induction into the Hall of Fame, an achievement also bestowed upon Coal River Farm in the Tourism Retail and Hire Services category. In total, eight THA members won top honours at the Tourism awards, including Bangor Vineyard Shed (Tourism Wineries, Distilleries and Breweries), BIG 4 St Helens Holiday Park (Caravan and Holiday Parks), The Cove Tasmania (Unique Accommodation), On Board (New Tourism Business) and Ship Inn Stanley (4-4.5 Star Deluxe Accommodation.

“Very excited, very humbled and grateful for the awards. It’s great recognition for the teams and our partnerships with our producers and our community, it’s a way that we can celebrate with t hem and appreciate all the great things about the north,” Peppers Silos general manager Paul Seaman says. “From a business events perspective and that Hall of Fame, for that category, it’s a great recognition to sit among those peer groups and those Hall of Fame People. It is very humbling when you look at some of the legends of industry that are amongst that list, but I guess it goes to show the importance of business events in the north and our part to play in that. “It’s our ability or our desire and our continual drive to include our partners, our producers, our community in what we do and then supporting events in the north, as well and being able to amplify those events that join us and the trust of our event planners and conference delegates and conference planners that are happy to use us again and again. We’re just blessed with a great iconic venue. It’s not very often you get a building as great as Silos that you can just bring to life, which is fantastic.”
