I hope to earn undergraduate and graduate degrees in an agricultural field and return to my community
After overcoming stage three Hodgkin lymphoma, I gained a new perspective on resilience,
to work in agricultural business, possibly agricultural appraisal. By studying finance, real estate valuation and law, I aim to become a productive professional while encouraging local youth to pursue higher education and stay involved in agriculture and community leadership. Areesha Tariq
perseverance and creating a meaningful future. Having worked in agriculture since childhood, I plan to return to my family farm after earning my degree to improve efficiency, support long-term planning and help ensure the sustainability of our farming operation for future generations. About the Blue Diamond Growers Foundation The Blue Diamond Growers Foundation Scholarship has been established for promising young students from California who plan to attend, or are attending, a university offering a four-year degree. Students transferring from a community or junior college to a four-year university program are also eligible.
Hometown: Merced College: UC Merced Major: Biochemistry Growing up in California’s Central
Valley inspired my passion for biochemistry and improving cardiovascular health outcomes in underserved communities. I plan to pursue an MD/PhD to combine research, clinical medicine and community outreach. My goal is to develop better treatments for cardiovascular disease, reduce health disparities and improve long-term health and resilience within vulnerable populations. Addison Tenente Hometown: Escalon College: Oklahoma State or Cal Poly SLO Major: Agribusiness I plan to earn a degree in Agribusiness before potentially pursuing agricultural law. Growing up immersed in farming, custom operations, and raising cattle gave me firsthand experience with the challenges farmers face. As an agricultural attorney, I hope to help farmers and ranchers navigate labor issues, water rights, and regulations while defending their livelihoods and supporting California agriculture’s future.
