In some children this oc curs at a very early age and all chil dren áre responsive to religious impres sions much earlier than is commonly supposed. Not to encourage and devel op these impressions is a positive wrong to the child and may result in life-long if not eternal injury. God spoke to Samuel when he was a child. Children are peculiarly sensitive and susceptible to the influences of the Holy Spirit. Mrs. Wesley taught her children to behave at family prayers and to ask a blessing by signs before they were able to speak. FRIDAY, April 30. Mark 1:14-20. Jesus Calling Disciples. The Christian life is a vocation. It is not to be lived in monastic or con ventual seclusion after the medievel idea but every one is called to a life of serv ice and devotion in the world. John 17:15. Jesus calls .men today by the voice of His Spirit as distinctly as He called the fishermen of Galilee from their boats and nets. It is by no means necessary to abandon one’s calling and take up some distinctive form of relig ious work. 1 Cor. 7:20. God wants Christian merchants and mechanics, Christian doctors and lawyers, and Christian working men and women. 1 Cor. 12:7. No one can do his work by proxy but Divine grace is sufficient for all emergencies and equal to every need. (Finish the' story emphasizing the duty of the young toward the aged and infirm, and how God rewarded her.) Teach memory verse. There has been a question in the minds of many as to the practicability of Bible study by correspondence. A personal touch with the Bible teacher in the class room is certainly a great ad vantage in procuring a knowledge of how to study the Bible as well as in stimulating enthusiasm in the work. This feature is of course lacking in cor respondence work and the lack is prob ably felt to a greater extent in Bible study than in any other line of instruc tion that may be given by correspond ence. On the other hand, there are hun dreds who can never have the advan tages of the Bible Institute and whose inspiration must be aroused through the printed page to a large extent. The reading of good books is a great help but the student does not feel compelled to concentrate on any particular line. For people of this class, Bible study by correspondence, if it be by a safe teacher and backed by competent executives, has many great advantages. The student cannot miss a lesson and never fails to recite. He must be prepared .on all les sons. He is not absolutely limited to a stated time in preparing his lesson. The
