The Bible Institute FAM ILY CIRCLE

Extension Department Representatives p" ■ ^ HE Bible Institute of Los Angeles is glad to announce the return to its JL Extension and Financial Department of Louis H. Griffin and T . E. Elgin, both of whom have served in this connection in earlier years. Following the World War, in which Mr. Griffin saw service overseas, he became International Field Secretary for the Gideon Association. Later, at different periods, he was affiliated with the Moody Bible Insti tute as a member of its Extension staff, and with the Bible Institute of Los Angeles in a similar position. Returning to Biola, Mr. Griffin is greeted in his work by many old friends. In line with the Lord’s leadership of his life, Dr. Elgin has served as pastor, educa tor, and Extension Department representa tive. Before coming to Los Angeles a number of years ago, he was a member of the Home Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. Experienced not only in Bible conference work but also in per sonal evangelism, Dr. Elgin brings to his present task at Biola both zeal and ability. J. Chester White, a former student of Biola, and recently pastor of the First Pres byterian Church of Richmond, Calif., has also become a member of the Institute’s Extension and Financial Department. From time to time, other employees of the Institute may be introduced in these columns for the purpose of stimulating prayer on their behalf, and indeed on behalf of all the work of the Bible Institute of Los Angeles. Music Instructors in Concert Tour M AKING a concert tour of the Pacific Coast from August IS to September 5, Herbert G. Tovey, Director of the Music Course of the Bible Institute of Los Angeles, and Paul Huff man, concert pianist and instructor in piano at Biola, traveled as far north as Everett, Wash., and gave sixteen sacred concerts in employing a unique approach to the min istry of sacred music. Dr. Tovey, who is a baritone, brought numerous original gospel solos, and Professor Huffman presented piano classics. E. Wallin, pastor of the Mission Cove nant Church of Kingsburg, Calif., wrote concerning the music and the musicians: “ Dr. Tovey is an artist who combined in a happy way a beautiful voice, a clear enunciation, and a spiritual yearning that grips the hearers. Paul Huffman’s playing has always been brilliant, but it would seem that something more has been added. Is it the mellowness of years, or is it the completeness of the dedication of his won derful talent to the service of the Lord Jesus Christ? Both Dr. Tovey and Profes sor Huffman gave ringing testimonies in regard to their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. They told simply that their aim was

to glorify their Lord and Master. The Bible Institute of Los Angeles is to be con gratulated in having such fine men in its service.” At each place Dr. Tovey and Professor Huffman had opportunities to interview young people who were considering attend ance at Biola, and a numbfer of other friends were interested in the school through the tour. Included in the itinerary were such localities as San Jose, San Francisco, Eureka, Calif.; and Grant’s Pass, Salem, Ore.; Everett, Wash., and, on the return journey, Oakland, Orland, Kingsburg,' and Turlock, Calif. Biola Students in China F RIENDS of the former students of Biola who- are missionaries in China will wish to know their general whereabouts according to the most recent information available to the Alumni Asso ciation. It is probable, of course, that some of these workers have moved to other local ities since the last word was received by mail from China.
