sins these seventy years, but the blood of Christ can take out the stain. You may have blasphemed Him almost as many times as you have breathed; you may have rejected Him as often as you have heard His name; you may have denied His God head; you may have persecuted His serv ants; you may have trampled on His blood; but all this the blood can wash away.— W illia m R eid . "But taken the Comforter is come, tahom I it nil send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me” (John 15:26). The work of the Holy Spirit reveals Christ. He makes us to know, enjoy and feed upon Christ. He bears witness to Christ; He takes the things of Christ and shows them to us. He is the power of communion, the seal, the witness, the ear nest, the unction. Without Him we can neither see, hear, know, feel, experience, enjoy nor exhibit aught of Christ. —Western Recorder. Like the dew, Thy peace distil; Guide, subdue our wayward will, Things of Christ unfolding still, Comforter Divine.—G. R aw son . NOVEMBER 29 Always There “Behold, 1 stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, 1 will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me” (Rev. 3:20). How often and how variously does the Lord knock at the doors of our hearts by the voice of His Word, the voice of His Spirit, or the voice of conscience! But how seldom are we inclined to give Him the hearing! We often are so distracted with business or pleasure, that we can hardly observe His voice through the hurry and noise of worldly things.. . . Even now He is knocking. Hearken to His voice, and open the door for Him directly, since He desires nothing from us that might be grievous. He intends to make our hearts a glorious residence and banqueting room of love, to fill it with heavenly treasure, and give us everything along with Him self.— Golden Treasury. NOVEMBER 30 By His B lood “ Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus" (Rom. 10:19). All that is ours is sin. Our wicked heart taints all we say and do; hence the need of continual atonement in the blood of Jesus. It is not one pardoning that will serve the need of our souls. We must have daily, hourly pardons.. . . Soon the Bride groom will come, and we shall be with Him, and like Him, and God shall wipe away all tears from our eyes. I burst through all the cobwebs of present things, and, His Spirit anointing my eyes, look at Jesus as One beside me. Blessed Elder Brother, with two natures—God and man— everliving, never dying, never changing! — R obert M u r ray M c C h e y n e . NOVEMBER 28 W o r k o f the Sp irit
