Baptist Book Store Prepares For Fall and Winter Season P. C. Palmer, Manager of the Baptist Book Store, 313 West Third Street, Los Angeles, reports that plans are being made for a heavy Christmas season. The Baptist Book Store is an important' headquarters for Christian publications in Los Angeles, and carries a full line of Sunday-school periodicals, including both Uniform and Keystone Graded Lessons suitable for all classes. The Book Store has been located in Los Angeles for more than twenty years, and its parent house was organized one hundred thirteen years ago. Mr. Palmer, the courteous and efficient manager, has been in charge of the store in Los Angeles for thirteen years, coming to this city from Philadelphia where he was an official in the American Baptist Publication Society. Christian workers are sure of careful atten tion and painstaking service when visiting the store. THE COMING CONQUERING ARMY [Continued from page 382] Jesus’ death for him, before any adult hears the good news twice. In the light of these considerations, shall we evangelize the army that is sure to con quer America, if the Lord tarries? Thousands across this land and in other lands have heard the affirmative answer of the Lord and have caught the vision of child evangelism. In these days of frustra tion and apostasy, it is increasingly difficult to touch the souls-of adults for Christ. The great army of children at the doors of America’s Christian homes and even inside them, children not yet hardened by sin, unbelief, and indifference, have a listening ear, open heart, and a life to live either for the world or for Jesus Christ and the church. The church has conceived her program to be one of aiding in the construction of three pillars for the individual life, and has emphasized in the Bible school their erec tion in the following order: First, Biblical instruction and denomina tional alignment; second, training for Chris tian leadership in the Bible school and in the church; and third, supposedly to come as an outgrowth of the other two, baptism and active church membership. It is well known by every Bible school leader that this program has been more than seventy-five per cent failure. We hold the children in the Primary, Junior, and Inter mediate departments, where we are building the informational and service pillars, yet more than seventy-five out of every hun dred slip away before the third pillar is well constructed. Why has there been so great a failure? A close study of God’s “Manual of Pro cedure,” the Holy Scriptures, will not only answer the oft-repeated question, “Why does the Samson world so easily pull our pillars down?” but also will give a revolu tionizing vision and will reverse prevailing Bible school emphases. From the figure of the three pillars of the individual life, a symbolism largely of human origin, we turn to “the Rock of

Ages” as the God-given foundation for the child’s life, “ For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ” (1 Cor. 3:11). Thus it is that in the life built upon the Foundation, we have the aid of the indwelling Christ and the Holy Spirit. This approach reverses the before-mentioned order and gives first place of importance to the leading of the child to a personal decision to accept Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord. Thus we have divine help in teaching spiritual truths (John 16:13), and in guiding youth through paths beset with the temptations of the world, the flesh, and the devil. Child Evangelism A careful study of Matthew 18 will reveal three important facts that concern the evangelism of children: 1. Jesus Christ
