Tenacity and the Simple Things in Life For 15 years, Susan Smith sold cosmetics for a direct selling company. Although she wasn’t actively looking for an
my first month and got a check for a little over $500. That got my attention because I didn’t put that much time into it, and I didn’t have to stock or sell anything.” After that, Susan knew she would look into Melaleuca further. She soon left her other company and turned her attention to building a Melaleuca business. “There is a peace that comes from the repeat income and not having to constantly start over,” she says. Today, with three children—all Marketing Executives—and five grandchildren, Susan loves being able to provide for her family, such as going on trips and not putting Christmas purchases on a credit card. “The simple things in life,” she says. Susan’s husband, Dennis, is recently retired, so having repeat income month after month has become even more beneficial. But Susan doesn’t plan to simply rest on
her laurels. She describes her Melaleuca journey with one word—tenacity. “I’m 65 years old,” she says, “but my current goal is to advance to National Director. And my passion right now is finding moms who are in the same situation I was in and helping them know that they have a choice. And that choice doesn’t involve anything crazy. It is simply helping people switch to a safer, trustworthy, cost-effective place to shop. They can literally put in the work from home and build a meaningful income. I want to help as many families as I can, especially young families, because I know that by doing that, good things will follow.”
alternative, she was certainly open to one. “It was a rat race,” Susan says. “I thought I was never going to get off the hamster wheel. If I stopped or slowed down, my income would take an immediate hit.” Susan was constantly rebuilding, managing overhead, and wondering what she could do to make her situation better. That was when a good friend introduced Susan to Melaleuca. She could clearly see the benefits of using Melaleuca products, and she was intrigued by the business side too. “There was no way anybody could get hurt,” she says. “I loved the repeat income, and it seemed like a better way to work from home. I enrolled eight customers in
