BUSINESS BUILDING
Success in any endeavor begins with belief. A solid belief can carry you even when times are tough. In this insightful ADVANCE presentation, Corporate
$17 billion. And those are just a few of the bright, experienced leaders at the helm of Melaleuca. A History of Success Think about Melaleuca’s Global Headquarters. There are millions and millions of dollars invested in this facility. And guess what? Melaleuca owns it. And when they need to upgrade it, they pay cash. Think about that. Our company is amazing. We own plants and distribution centers in Idaho, Knoxville, Tennessee, and now Kansas City, Missouri. And they are all paid for. That is pretty incredible! My wife, Myrna, and I have been associated with Melaleuca for 28 years now. We were both 28 when we enrolled, so we’ve been with Melaleuca for half our lives. That gives me a lot of perspective and a lot of belief that I’d love to download into your brain. When we enrolled, Melaleuca was a nine- year-old company with $200 million in annual sales. That was the year Melaleuca got listed in Inc . magazine’s Inc. 500 for being one of the fastest-growing privately held companies. And that was a hard thing to do. Melaleuca did it five times in a row. Five! There’s only a handful of companies that have ever done that, and Melaleuca did it with an A profit rating because they never went into debt. Did you know that Melaleuca was named by Forbes Magazine as one of America’s best employers? And Melaleuca is also a great corporate citizen. In 2021, there was some major flooding in British Columbia. In response, a Melaleuca truck full of relief supplies was on the road the very next day. I love that Melaleuca didn’t brag about it. I only know about it because we have customers who were impacted by the relief efforts and love to share the story, but Melaleuca didn’t do it as a publicity stunt.
Director 4 Mark Atha outlines how his belief has driven his success during his 28 years with Melaleuca and shares ideas for strengthening your own.
Corporate Leadership I want to talk a little bit about our leadership. We don’t have just run-of- the-mill leadership at Melaleuca. Frank VanderSloot served as our CEO for more than 36 years. Did you know the average tenure of a CEO in America is less than 3 years? And now, after nearly 4 decades, Frank is serving as our Executive Chairman. Jerry Felton, our current CEO, was running a division of UPS internationally that was responsible for billions of dollars in yearly sales before he came here. And now he’s been with Melaleuca for more than 14 years. That’s awesome! Senior Vice President of Sales Darrin Johnson came to us from a global pediatric nutrition company worth
I get to talk about something that I love to talk about, and it’s hopefully going to help any of you who are having self-doubts. I want to talk about belief, because if you had my belief, I wouldn’t need to teach you anything else. So what do you need to believe in as you build your Melaleuca business? Obviously, it starts with the company and our corporate leadership. Additionally, we have to believe in our products and how they’re making a difference in others’ lives. And we have to believe in our mission. But even more importantly, we have to believe in ourselves. Let’s walk through a few things as I help you build a little more belief.
