Melaleuca’s new 500,000-square-foot Kansas City distribution center and warehouse is fully operational! Since the fall of 2022, this state-of-the-art facility has been on track to create hundreds of new jobs and ship roughly one-third of Melaleuca’s packages with greater efficiency than ever before.
“What’s exciting about this facility is that it has the capacity to ship over 500,000 packages each month,” says Melaleuca CEO Jerry Felton. In combination with distribution centers in Idaho Falls and Knoxville, Melaleuca’s new Kansas City location is creating a logistics network that allows products to reach nearly all US customers within just two days of ordering! An incredible amount of engineering went into transforming the former Harley-Davidson motorcycle factory into an automated “superstructure.” The advanced technology inside provides oversight in key areas of quality control, order fulfillment, and package weight to reduce human error and lead to even higher rates of customer satisfaction. “Hats off to our engineering team,” says Bryce Rasmussen, Senior Director of Distribution for Melaleuca. “It has taken tons of work to get to this point—we’re talking about drawings, vendor selection, construction, conveyor lighting, sensor installation, you name it. That’s why I call our Kansas City facility a ‘superstructure.’ It truly is a feat of modern engineering.” Additionally, the Kansas City warehouse is strategically located as a distribution hub for Melaleuca’s new Riverbend Ranch Black Label Beef , a specialized venture that has been 27 years in the making. “We have an opportunity to optimize the Kansas City space in ways that will benefit our customers both now and for decades to come,” Bryce says. “That’s really what this operation is all about.” “Melaleuca is thrilled to expand into Kansas City for several reasons,” says Melaleuca Executive Chairman Frank VanderSloot. “It has a business-friendly environment; a well-educated, hardworking, and talented workforce; advanced manufacturing-industry expertise; and a strategic position in the center of the country. This Kansas City location complements the 1.3 million square feet of space that Melaleuca currently operates. With this exciting new facility, our products will reach our customers’ doorsteps faster than ever.”
