Form a citizen plan implementation steering committee to monitor progress on local mitigation actions. Include a mix of representatives from neighborhoods, local businesses, and local government. Encourage the use of porous pavement, vegetative buffers, and islands in large parking areas. Encourage the use of permeable driveways and surfaces to reduce runoff and promote groundwater recharge. Obtain local data including tax parcels, critical facility locations, and other information for use in risk analysis. Adopt erosion and sedimentation control regulations for construction. Use stream restoration to ensure adequate drainage and diversion of stormwater.
