COUNT ON IT Math Standard: Counts Out Loud; Counts Objects
COUNT ALL DAY LONG Make a point of counting objects to 10 throughout your day. Count food items as you put them into your grocery cart; count socks when you do laundry; count your child’s fingers and toes at bath time.
MATH Standard: Recognizes Numbers FIND NUMBERS Point out number symbols when you go places. For example, at the pet store, say: “The numbers tell us how much the dog food costs.” SELF - DEVELOPMENT Standard: Understands Feelings DISCUSS BOOKS Read a story together and ask: “How do you think the character in the story feels?” “Have you ever felt that way?”
SOCIAL STUDIES Standard: Demonstrates Awareness of Places (Geography) IDENTIFY COMMUNITY LANDMARKS While riding in the car, taking a bus, or walking, point out community landmarks, such as schools, the police department, parks, and the hospital. ART Standard: Creates and Appreciates Visual Arts EXPLORE COLORS Encourage your child to explore colors while drawing pictures with crayons. Ask: “What colors
do you like?” “What does this color make you think of?” Be sure to hang your child’s artwork.
