ACTIVE ADULTS & SENIORS

Decorative Folk Art Painting for Beginners • AGES 18 AND UP Folk Art painting is a skill-based art form that uses simple brush strokes to create a design. Folk Art painting takes the mystery out of learning, unlike something that is talent-based, this technique can easily be taught one step at a time. Participants will receive a solid foundation for this wonderful decorative art form. No previous painting or drawing skills required. Practice and a desire to learn is all that is needed to succeed. All supplies are available for a fee of $25 payable to instructor at the first class. Learn how to read music and play a musical instrument, or jump right in and participate in a concert band (musical instrument experience required). Every person has musical potential that can be developed to a level that will be personally rewarding. Individuals are encouraged to practice on their own outside of class and may be invited to perform in concerts at the end of each season. Each participant must own, purchase, rent or borrow the band instrument that they choose to play. New Horizons Band DuPage has some instruments that can be rented or can suggest locations where instruments can be rented or purchased. Music method books are required for the beginner and intermediate classes. Payment of $10 will be collected at the first class (price subject to change). Please make checks payable to New Horizons Band. Visit www.nhbdupage.org for more information. It’s never too late to toot your own horn! (lmo) CODE DATE DAY TIME R/N

As seniors progress and notice a decline in cognitive function, the biggest fear is falling. Consisting of three 15-minute segments of sitting, standing and walking, this class will help you build your confidence and regain or maintain your balance. Fall prevention and how to correctly fall to avoid injuries will be discussed. Please bring water for hydration and wear gym shoes with good support.
