All senior practice class levels include breath/energy exercises such as Neigongs, Chi Gongs and Circles. Discover why for centuries many have practiced Tai Chi’s unique approach in providing balance and well-being.The benefits of Tai Chi are found at all levels; students may remain at Senior Beginner 1 or Adult Beginner 2 indefinitely. There are many different options such as those that offer luxury amenities and lifestyle services far beyond basic senior care. These free classes are designed to help you pass your Illinois driver’s license renewal examination. Although self-defense may be discussed, the program is for personal enjoyment and is not intended to be competitive or aggressive. Take a break from your busy life and make Kung Fu your new hobby! Stretching is vital for seniors and allows for greater movement in joints while improving overall posture in addition to releasing muscle tension and soreness, reducing the risk of injury. It also may help increase circulation, muscle control and improve balance and coordination. This 30-minute class, taught by Cecilia Floyd-Carruthers, covers stretching exercises from head to toe in a seated position as well as standing, using a chair for balance. Please bring water for hydration and wear gym shoes with good support. In order to participate in the Senior Stretch class, you must be mobile and able to support yourself without assistance. WellFit Seated Strength and Balance • AGES 50 AND UP WellFit Seated Strength and Balance focuses on creating a safe and supportive environment and is designed to increase overall body strength, range of motion, agility, core strength and balance using a chair for support as needed. Exercises include seated and/or standing aerobic positions with core strengthening and balance training using light weights, bands and therapeutic balls. Please bring a water bottle for hydration.
