Suburban Spotlight: Frankfort  NEW AGES 21 AND UP Founded in 1855, the village of Frankfort boasts a quaint downtown lined with historical buildings. Start at the Frankfort Area Historical Society Museum. Changing displays may include a glimpse into the past lives of the farmer, homemaker, doctor, barber and shop proprietors. Sit in the quaint parlor and watch the welcome video, complete the museum treasure hunt or purchase a few items at the gift shop. There are many local boutique and candy shops to peruse. If shopping is not your thing, take a self-guided tour of the many historical buildings in a 5-block radius using the museum’s handout “Welcome to Historic Frankfort.” Family-style plated lunch will be at Francesca’s Fortunato in the heart of downtown Frankfort. Please note: The downtown area has elevated sidewalks with steep steps up to some of the shops and down to the street level. This enduring tale of romance, risk and unforgettable rhythm follows the improbable love story of high-rolling gambler Sky Masterson and mission doll Sarah Brown, along with the comedic relationship of the ever-patient Miss Adelaide and craps game organizer Nathan Detroit. Guys and Dolls takes you into the golden age of Broadway with wit, charm and plenty of heart with vibrant characters and unforgettable songs like “Luck Be a Lady” and “Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ the Boat.” Lunch choices are Fresh Filet of Salmon or Roasted Turkey. Exhibits include (subject to change) Clocks of the World, Stained Glass Masters, Treasures of Louis Comfort Tiffany, American Brilliant Cut Glass and Museum Cafe Gallery. Bargain-hunt at the booths and explore the flea market and adjacent town. Get a head start on your holiday shopping. Enjoy lunch (your expense) at one of several restaurants within the flea market or enjoy an Amish meal just blocks away. A minimum of 30 is needed for this trip to run.
