YOUTH Family Hike with a Naturalist • AGES 4 AND UP

Nature Playtime • AGES 1 1/2-3 Playing is how children learn and research shows how important spending time outside is for a child’s physical and mental development. Join a naturalist for a spring multi-week session of outdoor play. Each themed, but unstructured, nature playtime takes place completely outdoors rain or shine so dress for the weather. Please note: Your child will get wet and dirty - it’s part of the fun! Caregivers stay with their child. No class April 30. The walk is not about the destination, but instead the awakening of your senses to the natural environment around you. Reconnect with nature during these mindful walks with a certified Forest Therapy guide. The walk is held entirely outdoors. Be prepared to walk over uneven terrain. Wear comfortable clothing and walking shoes. Meets on the nature center deck. Join a naturalist for an early morning hike at Knoch Knolls Park to look for spring wildflowers and wildlife. Trails may be muddy; dress for the weather and conditions. Please leave pets at home. Parent must remain with their child(ren) during the class. Bring folding lawn chairs. All fishing poles, bait and tackle are provided. We’ll be fishing rain or shine (but not if it’s thundering - check our Rainout Line), so please dress for the weather. Fishing takes place at May Watts Park’s pond and meets at entrance on Oakton Lane. Price is per child; at least one adult must attend with each family. Nature Discovery Kits • AGES 4-9 Discover nature at home with one of our themed Nature Discovery Kits! Kits generally include: Information/instruction sheets, coloring pages or scavengers hunts, supplies for crafts and materials/instructions for a game or hike. Some kits are designed for families with up to 4 children. Please see specific kit listing for more details on themes/materials and when they are available. Some kits offer additional craft materials available for an extra fee. An email confirmation will be sent when your kit is ready to pick up. Pick up your kit inside the nature center during open hours. TURTLE TIME KIT: Have you seen turtles out and about in late spring and early summer? Use our Turtle Time Nature Discovery Kit to learn about our local turtles. Take home kit includes: Information sheet, book list, coloring/ activity sheets, supplies for four (4) turtle crafts, a turtle scavenger hunt and three turtle games. Four additional turtle crafts plus coloring sheets available for an extra fee. Items not included: crayons or markers, scissors and laundry baskets. Available April 1 - May 31.
