Soccer is a game that is action-packed so there’s no sitting and waiting! The game of soccer is learned by hiding drills in fun games and using association techniques. Basic skills of dribbling, shooting passing and spacing are covered and expanded upon. Kids learn the importance of proper throwing mechanics, rotational hitting, bunting, fielding, pitching and catching. Speed and agility techniques are added to increase core strength and mobility for added bat speed, range in the field and linear speed for base running. Fun basketball-like games are played to teach the importance of each skill learned. The foundation technique focuses on basic mechanics to build confidence and then adds larger challenges. Footwork is an extremely important aspect of the game; no player sits! Players also work on dribbling with each hand, passing and shooting and understanding basic offense and defense in addition to learning teamwork and sportsmanship. Each class begins with speed and agility drills to enhance each player’s ability to get up and down the court quickly, generate rapid change of direction and create explosion to the basket. Ball handling, proper shooting technique, footwork and defensive/offensive strategies also are included. Small-sided competitions and game play enable each player to focus and work on skills learned.
