A power-play goal launched the Hawkesbury Hawks to a home game win last Friday night against the Carleton Place Canadians. Michael Minchello got the scoring started for the Hawks with a power-play goal near the mid-point of first period, assisted by Xavier Lacoste and Luka Gelinas. Carleton Place’s Owen Devlin tied up the score during the last minute of the period, with help from Thompson and Joe Devlin. Second period belonged to Hawkesbury with Max Cantelon breaking the tie in the first two minutes of play, with what proved the game-winning goal for the Hawks. Aiding him on the play were Minchello and Theodore Jette. Four minutes later Lauzon extended the Hawks’ lead, assisted by Arthur Lalonde and Adam Racine. The rest of the period proved a back-and-forth between the two teams as each tried for another goal. Minchello scored the final goal of the night seven minutes into third period, with an assist from Genest, finishing the game at 4-1 for Hawkesbury. Minchello and Cantelon were named first and second stars of the game. At Rockland Saturday night in Rockland, the Hawks finished one goal behind the Nationals who claimed a 3-2 victory. Rockland’s Nolan Turnbull began the sco- ring session midway through first period, with assists from Dylan Allie and Matthew Vohra. Second period saw Rockland extend its lead by another point with a goal by Assistant

Captain Alex Kelloway five minutes into the period. Assisting him were Gabriel Giroux and fellow Assistant Captain Joshua Penney. The Hawks got on the scoreboard in the latter half of the period thanks to a power- play goal from Edward Downey, assisted by Vital Dinis and Michael Minchello.
Third period saw Rockland’s score advance by two points again with a goal by Daniel Myloserdnyy, assisted by Assistant Captain Gabriel Le Houillier and Mavrick Brunet. Colton Henderson scored Hawkes- bury’s final goal six minutes before the end of the game.
Brett Ruddy of the Hawks was named the second star of the game. The Hawks are in Cornwall October 23 against the Colts and return home Friday to host the Ottawa Junior Senators. Sunday the Hawks are in North Grenville against the Kemptville 73s.
