YAAG_2019-2020

WELCOME BACK

Change. It's such a funny thing when you stop to think about it.

The Year at a Glance (YAAG) is meant to serve as your "Start here" guide for the 2019-2020 school year. The YAAG gives you the chance to easily explore the NBPS opportunities available, save the dates for this year's events, and access the people who have the information you need. (If you want more in-depth information on any particular subject, please visit nbps.org .) As this year commences, I hope you stay open to change, taking advantage of opportunities and embracing the new. Better yet, I hope you seize the moment today to create your own change. It can be hard, yes, but it is what brings joy to the journey.

Change is hard. We've said goodbye to some pretty incredible students, faculty members and administrators over the years. While we will miss them, we won't forget that they are what has shaped NBPS into what it is today. Change is wonderful. When I look back over the last 15 years, it's hard to believe the amount of positive change I've seen at NBPS. From people to assets, we have gained so much. Our culture is stronger, and our community, more vibrant. Change is invigorating. I've taught everything from pre-history to current events, but my favorite section of history to teach is pre-revolutionary American history. Why? There are so many misconceptions floating around about this time, and this chance to change students' understanding to become more accurate is enjoyable to say the least. The start of the new school year automatically comes with its fair share of change. Faculty and staff, myself included, undertake new roles. Students enter the next phase of their lives. Teachers update curriculum. Parents utilize new opportunities. There is, however, one thing that won't change: NBPS has been and will continue to be a school concerned about people. We believe it is our charge to provide opportunities that will help our community prepare to meet future challenges, strengthen relationships, forge new connections, and grow intellectually, socially and spiritually.

Sincerely,

Bruce Fawcett Head of School
