Issues and Challenges The steep growth in urban population and the subsequent increase in resource consumption will inevitably create numerous challenges for Melaka. This blueprint aims to assist Melaka in highlighting the issues and challenges in seven smart city components which was highlighted by Melaka stakeholders with the ability of smart city solutions to solve urban challenges in mind. Below underlined key issues and challenges identified in Melaka.

Identifying and acting on issues and challenges will help Melaka focus its targeted solutions and consider the best way to pursue a sustainable, livable and resilient Smart Melaka. Envisioning Melaka in 2035 is the best way to attain an in- depth understanding on what needs to be considered to chart a path to be Smart Melaka and the following will explore future trends and drivers of change.
