Douglas Hoping For Second Straight Playoff Season Submitted Photo

Brindlee Mountain Football 2022 This fall, under third year head coach Brandon Lyles, Douglas will be trying to reach the playoffs in back-to-back seasons for the first time in program history. The Eagles will begin their quest with the 2022 season opener against Susan Moore on August 19. The last time Douglas faced Susan Moore was in 1993 and the game resulted in a 14-0 loss for the Eagles. The 2022 Douglas football schedule is below: August 19 Susan Moore at Douglas August 26 Douglas at DAR September 2 Douglas at Arab September 9 Guntersville at Douglas September 16 OPEN September 23 West Point at Douglas September 30 Sardis at Douglas October 7 Douglas at Crossville October 14 Scottsboro at Douglas October 21 Douglas at Boaz October 30 NSM at Douglas Last fall the Douglas High School football program reached the opening round of the AHSAA State playoffs, where the Eagles fell to Pleasant Grove 55-0. It marked the first time that the Eagles achieved a playoff spot since 1998 and it was only the third playoff game in school history. The other playoff appearance was in 1996. The Brindlee Mountain football program has not won a game since September 2017, but the program has also never played Cherokee. The Lions will open the 2022 football season against an unfamiliar opponent and head coach Keith Garner hopes his squad can pull out a season opening victory. The 2022 season kickoff game against Cherokee is set for August 19. Pierce The Sports Ledger The Arab Knights football program is under the direction of fourth year head Coach Lee Ozmint. Last year Ozmint guided the Knights to an 8-3 overall record and a second-place finish in Class 6A Region 7. Arab also competed against Homewood in the opening round of the Class 6A AHSAA State Playoffs. This year, Ozmint’s program is moving to Class 5A Region 7, where the Knights will face Regional foes Douglas, Sardis, Scottsboro, Crossville, Boaz, and Guntersville. Arab will kick off the 2022 season on Thursday, August 18 at Class 7A powerhouse Albertville.
