Stephenson inherits a Sardis program that only won one game last year, which was a 44-22 victory over rival Crossville. Additionally, the Lions offense only scored 114 points the entire season. With new leadership and a new group of players on the gridiron, the Sardis program hopes that this will be the turning point year for the program. Stephenson also recently commented that he has never had a losing record and that he doesn’t plan to have one at Sardis. Fans, players and coaches will soon find out just how much of a turnaround year 2022 will be, as the Lions are set

The Crossville High School football program is hoping to record a win for the history books this season under first year head coach Riley Edwards. Edwards, who is a native of DeKalb County, has been an assistant coach and in charge of strength and conditioning for the past two seasons at Crossville. This past summer Edwards was officially approved as the Lions new head football coach, replacing former coach Josh Taylor, who only spent one season at the helm of the program. Under Taylor, the Lions finished the 2021 season with a 0-10 record and only scored 54 points the entire season. Coach Edwards hopes he can help Crossville improve this fall by scoring more points, playing hard on defense, and getting back in the win column. Edwards and a few of his players recently attended the 2022 DeKalb County Media Day and the Lions’ Coach posted on Facebook following the event that he thought his guys did well at the event.
