Robert Nowinski ’90 has been named the Buffalo Marathon lead bike team captain and is a lead volunteer with WNY Cyclists for Veterans, the Ride for Missing Children, and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Michael Markarian ’91 was one of only four people in North America to pass the theory portion of the Master Sommelier Exam in 2024. He is now studying for the service and tasting portions of the exam in pursuit of the Master Sommelier Diploma. He is currently the Sommelier and Beverage Director at Elizabeth’s, a fine dining restaurant with a seasonal vegan tasting menu in Washington, D.C. Bart B. Kelleher ’92 has been elevated to President of Ardmore Shipping, while also maintaining his role as Chief Financial Officer. Timothy M. Kennedy ’94 won re-election to the United States House of Representatives for New York’s 26th District in November 2024. Joseph P. Heins ’03 is Special Counsel on the Real Estate Industry Team at Phillips Lytle where he originally began his career. He is returning after serving as senior in-house counsel to one of the largest, privately owned real estate companies in the U.S. for more than five years. Joe focuses his practice on commercial real estate, including leasing, sales, acquisitions, financing, public-private partnerships, project development and title matters. Michael D. Jantzi II ’03 was promoted to Partner at Lawley Insurance. Peter C. Rizzo ’03 received the Office of Special Council’s 2024 Public Servant Award for disclosing the improper handling of veterans’ person information by the Department of Veterans Affairs. In July of 2024, Nicholas R. Rolle ’03 returned from Berlin, Germany, to accept the position of Assistant Professor of Linguistics at Princeton University. His interests are in phonology, morphology and their interface with other components of grammar, with an empirical commitment to the languages of Africa (in particular Sierra Leone and Nigeria). His main specialization is tone, and other suprasegmental properties of speech. Andrew D. Carlo, M.D. ’05 is now Behavioral Health Medical Director at WellBe Senior Medical in Chicago, IL. Nathanael “Skip” Kielt ’05 traveled to Paris for the 2024 Summer Olympics as coach for the U.S. Men’s Double Sculls Rowing team.
Canisius University graduate and long-time athletic department supporter John A. Christiano ’52 was presented with the Rev. Paul J. Dugan, S.J., ’45 Award, an honor that recognizes individuals for their significant contributions to Canisius athletics. Former sportscaster Donald L. Criqui ’58 has been named the 2024 recipient of the Edwin Pope Orange Bowl Vanguard Media Award, which annually honors a member of the sports media who has made significant contributions to college football and impacted the Orange Bowl and/or the South Florida community. James F. Dentinger ’79 was named new President of NOCO Development. The development company is focusing on electrification of the development sector through a platform that aligns NOCO’s clean energy technologies and services. John J. Leone ’79 , was named to the 2025 Best Lawyers in America list for his work in Real Estate Law and Trusts and Estates. Mr. Leone was named Lawyer of the Year for his Trusts and Estates practice by the organization in 2024. He is a shareholder attorney with Gross Shuman P.C. J. Nick Kompare ’85 joined Medical Mutual as Executive Vice President, Corporate Strategy and Chief Product Officer. After 30 years as a prosecutor and counsel to two New York State Supreme Court justices, Michael J. McHale ’85 has joined the firm of Andrews, Bernstein & Maranto, PLLC as Trial Counsel. Michael’s practice focuses on Labor Law sections 240 and 241 matters; construction site, automobile, and premises accidents, and general negligence disputes. Joseph W.
