RESEARCH HIGHLIGHTS
■ EMO (Eliminating Monitor Overuse) – National trial to decrease unnecessary cardiac monitor use in infants and children with bronchiolitis; overuse is associated with unnecessary prolonged hospitalization. ■ REVISE2 – National quality improvement project to standardize care of infants (less than three months old) presenting with fever to align with the most recently published American Academy of Pediatrics febrile neonate guidelines; allows for more targeted evaluation of infants at high risk of serious bacterial infection, while safely minimizing risk for patients who have little to no risk. ■ LIGHT – National project to launch implementation of new hyperbilirubinemia guidelines in newborn nurseries and for readmissions; decreases use of unnecessary phototherapy in newborns, resulting in fewer delayed discharges and fewer readmissions for jaundice.
