Riley Children's Health Annual Report 2023 – 2024

“The addition of MEG to our diagnostic toolkit represents a significant advancement in our ability to provide personalized and effective care for patients with neurological disorders. By accurately mapping brain activity and identifying seizure foci, we can tailor treatment strategies and improve outcomes for our patients.”

GROUNDBREAKERS Riley Children’s Health has introduced magnetoencephalography (MEG), a leading- edge modality used to evaluate seizures in children and adults. Detecting brain signals using a specialized helmet, MEG monitors both normal and abnormal brain activity while patients are at rest or engaged in specific tasks. The technology provides a whole-head view of brain activity by using sensors and advanced computing, allowing Riley specialists to identify the exact location of seizures. > READ about this milestone for patients experiencing medically intractable focal epilepsies.
