WITH THE NEXT GENERATION OF O’ROURKE’S NOWWORKING WITHIN THE COMPANY, MARK WAS KEEN TO MEET THE TARGETS HE WAS SETTING FOR THE COMPANY… M&P - Next generation

D uring the late 2010s, M&P Mechanical continued to expand in both residential and commercial projects. And with key Project Managers in place like Chris Brown, Aidan Kerr, Daren O’Neill, TJ Collier, Peter McGeeney, the company was starting to get a name for quality and high standards. By the end of 2017, M&P Mechanical’s hard work started to return some fortune, landing them the District Heating Project of the Year award. This was followed in 2018 by the public sector’s Excellence in Business Award. As 2018 rolled around, M&P Mechanical was ahead of its targets, and with the momentum going in their favour, Mark and Anthony signed on to deliver a 120,000sqft CAT B fit-out for the American office giant WeWork. As one

of the company’s largest projects and shortest time frames at just 12 weeks, it was all hands-on-deck. With Chris Brown as the Project Manager and with a team of 90 onsite working under him, it was testament to the quality of his team that the project was delivered on time. Darren O’Neill was in the thick of project managing the company’s ninth District Heating Project through 2018, which went on to win District Heating Project of the Year in 2019, and was the first NZEB apartment project completed. This was M&P Mechanical’s fourth District Heating Project for Cosgrave Developments. But Mark isn’t just concerned with developing his company’s project portfolio. He has been on a personal crusade to invest time and effort in

bringing new talent into the industry through apprenticeships. With around 12 apprentices on site each day, Mark’s commitment to fulfilling his goal can’t be dismissed. In fact, during its 10 years in existence, M&P Mechanical has put 15 apprentices (including Mark’s son Darren) through to be qualified - a source of great pride for him. “By the end of 2017, M&P Mechanical’s hard work started to return some fortune, landing them the District Heating Project of the Year award.”
