Riley Children's Health Annual Report – October 2026

Pediatric and interventional radiologists at Riley Children’s Health specialize in the diagnosis of medical conditions in infants, children and adolescents. Our fellowship-trained radiologists use advanced radiologic technologies tailored to the needs of children. DIAGNOSTIC RADIOLOGY

RESEARCH HIGHLIGHT

NOTABLE PUBLICATIONS

Pediatric Radiology: December 2025

Riley Diagnostic Radiology is conducting grant-funded research performing whole-body MRI scans in cases of suspected child abuse. The research aims to provide new tools to better identify traumatic injuries.

Can metaphyseal variations in the distal femurs and proximal tibias be distinguished from classic metaphyseal lesions? Emergency Radiology: October 2025 Clinically unsuspected pyelonephritis in children younger than 7 years The Journal of Surgical Research: January 2026 Prenatal imaging predicts need for early intervention in neonates with congenital lung malformations

■ 3 Tesla (T) and 1.5T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanners offering both advanced imaging sequences and fast-imaging techniques that reduce the need for sedation in young children ■ Siemens SOMATOM Force computed tomography (CT) scanner delivering exceptionally fast temporal resolution for imaging complex congenital heart disease in very small patients ■ CT scanners that allow organs to be viewed in different planes or as three-dimensional images

■ Fluoroscopy rooms that use advanced low-dose fluoroscopy equipment and can reduce X-ray dosage by as much as 70% ■ Digital radiology units that produce high-quality images quickly and shorten exam times ■ Ultrasound units specifically designed for pediatric imaging ■ On-site interventional radiology suite

Advanced technologies EOS X-ray technology

The American College of Radiology has accredited Riley Children’s in: ■ CT ■ MRI ■ Nuclear medicine ■ Ultrasound

■ One of the nation’s top centers for research and expertise in child abuse imaging ■ 3T fetal MRI program provides advanced imaging for diagnosis and treatment of congenital brain and body anomalies ■ Only facility in Indiana with attending pediatric radiologists on site 24/7/365

Provides the highest quality images with the lowest possible dose of radiation. SPECT/CT Allows a cross-sectional rendering of nuclear medicine images. The CT image is fused to the nuclear medicine image for precise localization of areas on the SPECT image, allowing for a more accurate diagnosis. MRI

Riley Children’s offers fellowships in

pediatric radiology and pediatric neuroradiology .

Perfusion MRI allows for brain tumor pathology and outcome prediction, and functional MRI maps brain structure and function for safer surgery.
