EVIDENCES OF TRUTH

I N t h e W ord of God we are given wonderful evidences which reveal the truth and the accuracy of the Scriptures. The first one is the Jewish Passover. How could anyone get mil lions of Jews to celebrate something that never happened? I doubt if you could get five to do it. These people have reasoning faculties and know that these events actually took place. We were not present on July 4, 1776, yet we celebrate what took place there. God’s miraculous deliverance of the Jews out of Egypt is established by the fact that through these sev eral thousand years the nation of Is rael has observed the Passover. This is simply because it actually hap pened. The second evidence I want to re mind you of is the Lord’s Supper. Could you get millions of people to celebrate this beautiful event if it never took place? On that night in which the Lord Jesus was betrayed He instituted this important ordi nance of the church. The third proof is the presence of the Word of God. You think how the world has persecuted and executed people who loved the Bible. Torn apart by lions, burned at the stake, tortured and maligned, as the Lord said they would be, and yet holding the truth revealed in the Bible. It is the only Book in all the world which increases its sale as it is given away free of charge. It is the only Book written by Jews and loved by Gen tiles. It is the only Book that tells a person where he is going after he dies. It is the only Book which has increased in sales after its writers died. The fourth proof is the presence of the Jewish people throughout the cities of the world. Why aren’t they in their own country? They have kept their unique characteristics and cul ture despite the fact that they were

homeless until 1948. Now a true prophecy has several characteristics. It must be outside the possibility of coincidence, collabora tion, comprehension, c o n s i d e r a t i o n , concoction or calculation. This is what makes God’s truth unique. Jere miah writes of Babylon becoming dust, prophesied in the 51st chapter. Historians record how that an earth quake came down and stopped up the Euphrates River. The water and silt (fine dirt) covered Babylon. In the dry season the water seeped out or was evaporated. All that was left was the dust. But you see, God said this would happen 528 years before the event took place. We also read that Babylon would be destroyed by a wind. This was true 500 years before it came to pass. Thirty feet of dirt was heaped on the top of this wicked city. Archaeologists had to dig it out of the debris to read the history. But God wrote it before it came to pass. Today, hundreds and hundreds of years after this destruction, Babylon is indeed desolate. The Arabs don’t even camp there at night. In the study of prophecy one can not help but be stirred with God’s love, grace and patient dealing with the children of Israel. You can tell our Jewish friends by their language, ways, walk, looks and many other things, even after thousands of years. This is not true of other races. I haven’t any idea where I came from as far as original nationality is con cerned. But a Jew knows where he came from. He can tell you his an cestry way back to Abraham. As God promised they are going to be the head of the nations. Already they control most of the money in the world. They are at the top in medi cine, architecture, agriculture, elec tronics, and many of the important and vital areas of life. Many of them are going back to Israel taking all 25
