Biola Broadcaster - 1964-08

He invites each one, “Come unto me all ye that labor and heavy laden and I will give you rest.” By coming to the Lord Jesus Christ we can have sabbaths all week long. This is that glorious peace that passeth under- BECAUSE I LIVE The world had never known a night like this: The Lord of Life is lying in the tomb! The One who had endured the trai tors kiss Is dead! How deep the grief: how great the gloom! Why could He not have stayed the cruel hands That nailed Him to the cross of Cal vary? He said that legions of angelic bands Awaited but His word to set Him free. Now He is dead: The Son of God is dead! He who had spoken words of truth and grace; The One with Whom they oft had broken bread Is dead! No more would they behold His face. But wait! No sepulchre could hold my Lord On that triumphant resurrection day. He conquered death according to His word And opened wide a new and living way. Now down across the centuries of time We hear the greatest words of tongue and pen; Majestic words, transcendent words sublime: "Because I live, you too shall live again." — Dr. Albert Simpson Reitz standing. Lay your burdens at His feet and He will take them. Pour out your sorrows into His heart and He will dry the tears. This is a very personal day, too. The nation may not observe it but you have the opportunity of doing so. The Old Testament sabbath refers to

rest for the body but the New Testa ment shows us that there is rest for the soul and heart. If your house burns down you will have peace in your heart because you know the Lord will take care of you. You may have an automobile wreck but He takes care of you. If He doesn’t you may go to heaven which is so far better. Yes, “this is the day” for trusting Him. Christ makes the path way grow brighter and sweeter. He bears our burdens for us so that we may bear the burdens of one another. He blots out our sins with His own precious blood making ¿is His chil dren. We read, “Come ye apart into a desert place and rest awhile.” Here is the suggestion • for refreshment when the way has seemed difficult and arduous. When the heart is over whelmed with sorrow, and tears are filling the eyes, we can come alone with Him and rest there. Turn away from your griefs and pain; turn to Him and rest in His everlasting arms. So there are three things: the gate by which you enter into God’s king dom, the stone on which you rest and build for eternity, and the day of rest which you find in Christ Jesus the One who meets all your needs. Go to Him today and let Him be all He de sires to be to you!
