Review of 2021
We’re delighted to bring you our annual highlights to showcase some of our successes and achievements during 2021. Our hard work and commitment to deliver on our purpose of championing better work and working lives has been supported by a growing community of members and volunteers over the past 12-months. Their knowledge and guidance continues to prove invaluable, so I’d personally like to thank all of our volunteers - we wholeheartedly appreciate your support.
Team CIPD North with our CEO, Peter Cheese.
A particular highlight for me during the year was seeing over 30 of the North’s most inspirational organisations, people teams and projects make it on to the shortlist of the 2021 CIPD People Management Awards, resulting in eight winners at the ceremony. Looking ahead, we will continue to work with key stakeholder organisations, such as the Northern Public Sector Forum, policy makers and our combined authorities to encourage fair and equal work opportunities for everyone. To help our members keep up with all our latest work and events to champion better work and working lives, we have established a quarterly update - known as CIPD North: Regional Insights. With a growing readership of over 36,000 subscribers it also showcases best practice stories from our region’s most inspiring members. Throughout the New Year we have planned a range of activities and campaigns to meet the needs of our members’ in such rapidly changing times. Throughout the year we have engaged and influenced public policy on a wide variety of workplace issues including flexible working, ethnicity pay gap reporting, fair pay and reward, and the skills agenda. We also continue to support our region’s metro mayors with their fair work charters to help drive positive workplace change in their respective city regions. During the pandemic our member network and engagement activities have included a wide range of webinars and roundtables, with topics covering everything from flexible working, mental health, hybrid working and menopause at work.
