Building anti-racist workplaces with HR Leaders

Mayor Steve Rotherham: Mental Health in the Workplace

Our HR Leaders Network engages the top of the profession in a peer network, to shape conversation and thought leadership on the future of the profession, and the world of work. In January, our exclusive HR Leader Network joined us for a roundtable on ‘Building anti-Racists Workplaces.’ The virtual session enabled our region’s HR leaders to gain valuable insight, and share best practice, on how to tackle racism in the workplace and build an inclusive culture that promotes allyship.

Our ‘Mental Health in the Workplace’ webinar - in collaboration with the Liverpool City Region and the CIPD Merseyside & Cheshire Branch - proved a hot topic, attracting over 200 viewers. Steve Rotherham, Mayor of the Liverpool City Region said: “We hope this webinar encourages employers to take advantage of the CIPD’s range of resources to improve your people’s wellbeing, because a happy and healthy workforce is also a more productive workforce.” Our panel of experts included Terry Duffy (Area Director, ACAS North West), Lisa Ellis (Mental Health First Aid First Aid Instructor), Peter Kelly (Senior Psychologist, Health & Wellbeing) and Rachel Suff (Senior Policy Advisor, CIPD). Together, they discussed how we can build mentally healthy workplaces.

Developing fair work charters for major city regions

Flexible work for all

We delivered a series of ‘Flex in Practice’ webinars which attracted over 600 viewers. The sessions explored the benefits of flexible working, arrangements commonly used, and practical tips on implementing flexible working practices. You can catch up on some of the sessions here:

We were proud to work with Steve Rotherham, Mayor of Liverpool to help shape and launch a localised fair employment charter. As part of this, we created a micro-site for local businesses to access a range of resources to support the requirements of the charter. This work complements the support and resources we have provided to Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester to create the Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter.

Flexibility by design - the art and science of job crafting

These webinars complemented the launch of our #Flexfrom1st campaign in February, which called on organisations and the government to make the right to request flexible working a day-one right for everyone.
