Uniting with northern mayors to commit to fair work
We joined a press conference in which Tracy Brabin, Mayor of West Yorkshire, alongside her fellow northern metro mayors (Andy Burnham of Greater Manchester and Steve Rotherham of Liverpool) announced plans to develop of a Fair Work Charter for the region. As a result we are now working with West Yorkshire Combined Authority to develop their charter which is due to launch in March 2022.

Launch of CIPD Northern Policy Forum
Over 140 senior HR and people development professionals registered for the launch of our Northern Policy Forum. Members of the forum have the opportunity to influence public policy on the future of work, by providing their expert insight on a range of workplace areas, including health and wellbeing and pay and reward. This valuable expertise is helping us respond to work-related government consultations – including the recent Flexible Working consultation - and recommend vital changes to policy.
CIPD Chartered Fellows event: Profession for the Future 2030
We collaborated with the CIPD Manchester Branch on an exclusive online event for
Chartered Fellows. It attracted 80 FCIPD’s from across the region to gain insight from our Profession for the Future 2030 research and hear their thoughts on how they would put this into practice.

One Million Chances for the North’s young people
Digital Transformation: Insights from the North
We launched a series of ‘Digital Transformation’ articles featuring northern people professionals (from organisations such as City & Guilds, My Leadership Strengths and KP Snacks) sharing their experiences and best practice on supporting the business and its people through digital change.
As part of our One Million Chances campaign - which aims to help create one million opportunities for young people (aged 18-24) - we have developed a number of blogs that feature organisations that are benefitting from creating training and work opportunities for young people.
