We were delighted to support the Growth Company’s landmark PROGRESS21 event in Manchester Central. We joined hundreds of public, private and third sector organisations as exhibitors to provide specialist insight and practical support to help business’s recover and enjoy future growth. Our CEO, Peter Cheese also joined an esteemed panel to discuss the future of work, and the importance of responsible business. The event was supported by Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester, and included a jobs fair ‘plus’, with thousands of available jobs and training opportunities for people of all ages.

Supporting you and your HR Career after study

Over 75 early career professionals joined us for this popular virtual event - in collaboration with the Northern Branch Network - to learn more about the benefits of CIPD membership and getting involved in our volunteer network. As part of the ‘Supporting you & your HR career after study’ session, delegates discovered more about the wide range of exclusive resources and communities - available to CIPD members - to help with career progression and support their wellbeing.

Soft Skills in Hard Times comes to Manchester

We hosted our first in-person event of the year - in collaboration with ACAS and the Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter – which was a panel discussion with the aim of helping employers enhance their people management. Over 100 delegates joined us for the event - known as ‘Soft Skills in Hard Times’ - which followed the launch of our collaborative guide on how to upskill people managers. Our panel of experts included Ben Willmott, Head of Public Policy at CIPD and Terry Duffy, Area Director at ACAS and Sharon Amesu, Diversity and Inclusion Specialist – who chaired the session. Joining the Menopause Revolution

Over 900 delegates registered for our ‘Let’s talk menopause’ webinar with Carolyn Harris, Co-chair of the government’s new Menopause Taskforce, Janet Trowse, Head of HR at Network Rail and Rachel Suff, CIPD Senior Policy Adviser.

Hosted by Daphne Doody-Green, Head of CIPD Northern England, the session ignited a lively discussion around how HR and line managers can better support colleagues going through the menopause. The panellists and delegates also shared personal and heart-warming stories on their experiences of the menopause.
