PureCycle uses licensed proprietary technology to recy- cle postuse PP into what the company said is ultra-pure recycled PP for applications spanning consumer goods, au- tomotive,building and construction and industrial uses.The company said it can process a wide range of PP packaging and products with varying levels of contamination. The company said it plans to reach 1 billion pounds of production across its network by 2025, producing vir- gin-like rPP from end-of-life PP packaging and products. In its first phase, the facility will create 80 local jobs. The company’s flagship facility in Ironton, Ohio, is sched- uled to open in 2022 and has presold more than 20 years of output.The company says both facilities will work inde- pendently but will share some of the same technology and work practices. Athens Services Opens New Sustainability Center Athens Services, City of Industry, California, launched its new Sustainability Center in Thousand Oaks, California. The Sustainability Center is the first facility dedicated to environmental sustainability for Thousand Oaks residents and is a place where residents can come to learn about waste reduction, recycling and composting, according to the company. The opening of the Sustainability Center comes after Ath- ens Services was awarded the franchise waste and recycling collection contract for the city earlier this year.The agree- ment creates more than 50 jobs and aims to advance recy- cling and compliance with new organics waste regulations, Athens Services said. Athens will service the city with a fleet of new near-ze- ro-emissions vehicles powered by compressed natural gas (CNG). Athens Services is L.A. County’s largest privately owned waste diversion and recycling company,with 2,000 employ- ees and a fleet of more than 1,000 trucks, according to the company.The company, which has been family-owned and -operated since 1957, serves more than 30 municipalities and county areas. Casella Acquires Willimantic Waste Paper Co. CasellaWaste Systems Inc., a regional vertically integrated solid waste, recycling and resource management services company based in Rutland,Vermont, has acquiredWilliman- ticWaste Paper Co. Inc.,Willimantic, Connecticut. WillimanticWaste Paper Co.provides residential, commer- cial and roll-off collection services in eastern Connecticut and serves more than 30,000 customers.The company also operates a rail-served construction and demolition process- ing and waste transfer facility, a waste transfer station, a single-stream recycling facility and several other recycling operations. Casella expects to generate about $62 million of annual- ized revenues from theWillimantic acquisition.
