In July 2020, Closed Loop launched the Consortium to Reinvent the Retail Bag, a multiyear collaboration across re- tail sectors with founding partners CVS Health, Target and Walmart committing $15 million collectively to reduce the amount of plastic bags used in their stores. Closed Loop said this phase of experimentation is essen- tial to the broader consortium’s collaborative work, which includes additional partners DICK’S Sporting Goods, Dollar General,The Kroger Co.,TheTJX Companies Inc., Ulta Beau- ty, Ahold Delhaize USA Brands, Albertsons Companies, Hy- Vee,Meijer,Wakefern Food Corp. andWalgreens.The lessons learned from the pilots will help inform further iterations of the solutions and define where more testing and investment may be needed. Eagle International Expands Tire Recycling Capabilities Eagle International, Lyons, Nebraska, has debuted the Ea- gle Edge 360, which is designed to produce high-quality mulch from the treads and sidewalls of over-the-road (OTR) tires ranging from 33 inches to 63 inches in rim size. The design features rasp heads in three locations at varying an- gles, which increase the surface area that can be claimed as mulch and speeds up cycle time, according to the company.
