CCBC Chamber Singers The CCBC Chamber Singers, under the direction of Dr. Michelle Smith, will present a concert of songs inspired by the music of Disney. May 2 at 7:30 p.m. CCBC Essex, Arts and Humanities Hall, Recital Hall Jazz Plus Ensemble The Jazz Plus Ensemble, under the direction of CCBC music faculty member Brian Comotto, will perform standard and original jazz and pop compositions. The Secret Life of Bees Film screening : CCBC Arts partners with the Community Book Connection to present a special screening of “The Secret Life of Bees” — a moving story about love, resilience and finding family in unexpected places. Inspired by the best-selling novel, it is a deeply emotional story about healing, chosen family and the power of women lifting each other up, filled with performances that linger long after the credits roll. I Was Born This Way Film screening: Co-directed by Daniel Junge and Sam Pollard, “I Was Born This Way” spans Archbishop Carl Bean’s life and legacy and celebrates his resounding message, “Love is for everyone.” The film chronicles the extraordinary life of Archbishop Bean—Baltimore-born gospel singer, Motown recording artist, LGBTQ+ activist, founder of the Minority AIDS Project, and creator of the world’s first LGBTQ+ church for people of color. Following the screening, stay for a special panel discussion featuring the award-winning film’s director and additional guest speakers.
