April 17 Classical student recital

Victoria Zelefsky serves as the Vice President of Marketing & Communications for the Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation, where she leads communications, brand strategy, marketing, public and government relations, and major events that drive business growth and community revitalization across Anne Arundel County. A classically trained opera singer, she will lead a marketing and communications workshop for musicians. The Magical Mystery Four is an acclaimed Beatles tribute band based in the Baltimore/Washington area. Formed in 2017, each band member is an accomplished musician and vocalist that brings multiple talents to the band. Playing note-for-note renditions of The Beatles’ songs, The Magical Mystery Four perform popular songs from The Beatles’ catalog as well as many songs that are seldom performed live. CCBC Essex applied music students will offer a diverse program of vocal and instrumental classical music ranging from the Baroque to contemporary eras.

April 24 Jeff Stern, percussion

Jeff Stern will present a riveting program of recent works for marimba, vibraphone and electronics to CCBC. Whether polyrhythmically grooving alongside a distorted reflection of acoustic sound, playing chamber music with the echos of his notes in real time or simply using physical gestures as means of contextualizing synthesized audio effects, Jeff immerses, captivates and transports listeners into his distinctively intriguing environment. Come prepared to be opened up to the vast possibilities of what percussion can do—dance, sing, provoke, move, entrance and more.

May 1 Chamber Singers

March 27 Pop student recital

The CCBC Chamber Singers, under the direction of Dr. Michelle Smith, will present a concert of songs inspired by the music of Disney.

Talented CCBC applied music students and ensembles will present a concert of popular, jazz and musical theater selections.

May 8 Honors recital

April 10 African American art song

Specially selected music students will perform and be honored along with CCBC faculty members at this festive final Music Forum of the season.

Singers from the Vocal Studies department of the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University will perform an array of art songs written by African American composers under the direction of Associate Professor Carl DuPont. The artists will present a curated recital integrating live performance with scholarly commentary that illuminates the intersection of race, gender, sexuality and class within each work’s creation and reception history.
