Y11 Bulletin 26.01.24

A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 11

Year 11 are focusing really well in lessons and attending the various intervention sessions organised by various departments. This will help them to be fully prepared for their forthcoming core mocks and final GCSEs.

This week the student parliament reps had an amazing opportunity to hear from Alastair Campbell when he visited the school on Wednesday. Students were given the opportunity to talk about how and what they would like to change in our current situations and it made it a very interesting session.

Well done to the Year 11 students who performed in the Music Ensemble Exam Day which took place earlier this week on Tuesday.

Congratulations to the following tutor groups and individuals who have earned the most epraise points this week. There is a tie for first place with the tutor group leader this week which goes to 11SPA & 11PON, 11ERU are not far behind! Our top three epraise students are Aisha in 11PON, Scarlett in 11PON and Annabel in 11ERU.

Well done to the students who took part in the Richmond Borough Cross Country today. We look forward to reporting back how they got on in next week’s bulletin.

Year 11 have now been issued their personal exam timetable. They also had the opportunity to watch a video created by Mr Sharp explaining this process. If there are any questions arising from this please contact the school via KS4@waldegravesch.org.

Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Malibu Rising is a captivating rollercoaster of drama and emotion. Taylor Jenkins Reid successfully presents the Riva siblings’ lives against the atmosphere of ‘80s Malibu. The characters feel like friends you’ve known forever, their struggles and triumphs resonating with the teenage experience. The glamorous setting contrasts with the raw, relatable human stories, creating an intriguing narrative. Reid’s writing is touching, making it a page-turner that explores family dynamics, love, and the pursuit of identity. Malibu Rising is a must-read that blends nostalgia with timeless themes for any teenager.
